Cruise missiles redefined

I've always wanted the AI to load missiles into naval units not only efficiently, but also use them. I think after all this time my ideas have matured enough to have some possibility.

Here is the formula:

1- Modify the AEGIS Cruise to load 1-4 units (your choice), and flag it as well for 'naval missile transport'. Also give it the 'Transports only tactical missiles' ability.

2- With a modified editor such as Quintillus' edit the Cruise missile's strategy and change it to 'Tactical nuke'. Also give it the 'tactical missile' ability.

What we've done is we've recreated the way the AI uses nuclear submarines and tactical nukes, but with missiles. There is no reason it should not work. The only thing we did out of the ordinary was adding the 'tactical nuke' to the missile which would have not been possible due to not having the 'nuke' ability highlighted. This basically gives the AI a 'nuke' which is not actually a 'nuke', and other than that everything else was virtually the same.

EDIT:

Ignore any possible issues with the change that might arise from the vanilla tactical nuke and nuclear submarine. Lets focus on the cruise missiles for now.

Otherwise, all is lost in rants of questions and non understood situations that they do not want to try to explain it all as it is all too involuted.

Specific problems and things you want to know about are better off being asked in specific questions... then all goes from there.

One thing at a time is always easier to address than Multiple questions.

Because each question can have multiple answers, it is best to keep each question specific and look for not only the answer to your question but also to unasked for information that will help you and others later.
 
I actually make these posts for my own personal notes too, so I can go back to my account and read them. I wanted to make sure I did not forget anything at the moment. I'll follow up to this soon with a simpler question or answer and reword it if possible.

I'm still testing though. I'll update it soon...

UPDATE:

Facts:

- The 'Tactical missile' ability allows the use of bombarding abilities while loaded in a ship at sea.

- The 'Tactical nuke' strategy flag is responsible for the loading of units inside naval ships.

- The 'Tactical nuke' strategy flag will not allow the AI to fire the missiles even though they are loaded in their ships. They AI thinks it is a real nuke and will only begin using it after someone has launched a real nuclear weapon (a unit with the 'Nuclear weapon' ability enabled).

PROGRESS SO FAR:

- The AI loads cruise missiles inside their naval units, but refuses to fire them due to them thinking it's a nuclear weapon. Progress has been made with the loading capabilities. Working on a way around them not firing their missiles.

- Unlocking missiles option 1: Attacking anything within the borders of a nation with a 'hidden nationality' single use nuke will unlock the cruise missiles for the rest of the game. Better to fire it at water borders. Sadly this will also unlock nukes for the rest of the game. Doing this will not cause war and missiles will be fired when at war.
