Cultural boundaries

I just re-installed Beyond the Sword and I can't figure out what option or setting is different from what I used to have. But the cultural boundaries of my cities expand very quickly and to a much larger area than they used to. What would cause that?

Could it be game speed?

I found out the reason. Although I was playing BTS, it was because I didn't do the last regular Civ iv update.
