What are your Top 10 current bands? Current means that they've released albums of entirely new material (not complations) in the past couple of years or so. Obviously not being too strict here, I just don't want people to mention, for example, the Stones just because of "40 Licks".

Anyway, my top 10, in no particular order...

The White Stripes
AFI
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Incubus
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Dave Matthews Band
Coldplay
Ben Kweller
Weezer
and Rooney.

What about you?

EDIT: I'll probably edit this list several times, becuase I know I forgot some...

My top 8 :p And Dave is first but the others are random.

Dave Matthews Band
Sister Hazel
Weezer
Matchbox 20
Green Day
Social Distortion
Offspring
Eminem (eh)

I heard Green Day is making a new album, is that true? I'd like to hear The Offspring make new songs again, but I haven't heard anything about them.

(BTW, those are two bands I forgot, of course. :p)

Hmm... These ratings of my favourites are always tough, but i'll give it a try:

Kid Loco
Röyksopp
Bent
Ugress
Air
Aimee Mann
Kaizers Orchestra
Kula Shaker
DJ Shadow
Morcheeba

I feel I left a lot of bands out.. Sorry for that, bands ... I had to limit the selection to the bands I currently listen to the most, not my all time favourites..

EDIT: I just read the meaning of the word 'current' and hence edited the bands :D

Yeah it's true. But I'm not really looking forward to it. More or less I'm just curious. They were very poppy in "Warning" and strayed far from that early sound (Dookie and pre-Dookie) that I loved.

As for the Offspring, they've titled their new album "Chinese Democracy" which was the name of the Guns N'Roses album that was planned but never came out. Considering that the album is still technically "under production", Axl Rose is pissed.

1.KoRn
2.Rammstein
3.Weezer
4.Linkin Park
5.Snot
6.Disturbed
7.Evanesence
8.Ozzy
9.Powerman 5000
10.P.O.D.

All Gods of metal

whoa man, weezer on almost all the lists. I gotta ask, have each of you heard Pinkerton? Cuz Pinkerton is more Weezer than green or maladroit. Anyways, my top 10 in order of best to 10th best.

1. Radiohead (Hail to the Thief in 2 days!!!!!!!!!)
2. Weezer
3. Coldplay
4. Gorilaz
5. Beatles
6. Oasis
7. Marley
8. Foo Fighters
9. U2
10. 50 Cent

go radiohead

yes MummyMan, the Beatles seem extremley current to me. :) Hey, half of the band is still alive even!

(regardless, they are a great band, but they aren't in any way "current" :))

as for me, I barley know of current bands, the ones I do know of and that I like (and that didn't break up yet) are:

1. Metallica

And their current songs suck, so I guess I'll take Metallica off the list, leaving me with:

Yep, seems pretty complete. :goodjob:

Hmmmm, don't listen to much current music, but if I had to make a list:

Radiohead
Foo Fighters
White Stripes
AFI
Weezer
Green Day
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Dave Matthews Band
U2
Rammstein

This is in no particular order.

Iron Maiden (they are going to release a new album in the near future)
Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus
KoRn
System of a Down

That's not ten but whatever

After much consideration:

Massive Attack
Radiohead
Vikinga Seídur
Saturnus
Ulver
N.W.A.
Gorilaz
Malk de Koijn
Röyksopp
Dave Matthews Band

Heck, probably a few bands people don’t know…. I’m not too keen on pop. :ack:

Indeed, the first two ring a bell, but the rest?

I know.

US and UK stuff:
Massive Attack
Radiohead
N.W.A. (and the posse. This was my very first album :D )
Gorilaz
Dave Matthews Band

Scandinavian Stuff:
Vikinga Seídur
Saturnus
Ulver
Malk de Koijn
Röyksopp

REM
U2
Oasis
Bryan Adams
Stereophonics
Bruce Springsteen
Dave Matthews Band
......

Of course, lots more, but there are too many "one-time hit bands" these days, IMO.
Geez, it's actually hard - just found out now, that 80% of the music I listen to, is pre-1990 and all the way down to Beethoven, Musorgsky, Prokofiev, and Tchaikovsky. :mischief:
Also listen to jazz - Glenn Miller! :goodjob: :)

Current bands generally suck, but there are three that sometimes make something that's worth listening:

Rammstein
Linkin Park
U2

My personal top 10 at this time is:
Beatles
the Grateful Dead
The Rolling Stones
Miles Davis
Frank Zappa
Metallica
Black Sabbath
The Clash
The Yardbirds
John Lee Hooker

Not too big on music of the past 10 years myself, I think it has taken a real nose dive, but there are some bright lights:

Radiohead
Boards of Canada (and it's because I like their music, nothing to do with the name!)
Adult.

Coldplay are okay, though I find British pop to be growing stale fast.
