I have the latest Civ patch and I'm playing with Intel 945GM integrated graphics. In some games, my cursor flickers within the Civ menu and the games, causing pixelated blocks to appear all around the cursor. Is there any way I can fix this?

lower the graphics setting maybe...

I have no special cursors, just the default Civ ones. I'll trying lowering the resolution next time the flickering occurs, but somehow I doubt that's the problem since the flickering occurs only intermittently.

My friend has the same problems and it started after the patch. Two quick fixes; either tab back to windows and return .. that will normally take care of it or change the resolution in the options and then change it back (this is faster than tabbing to windows). We tried changing his setting and it doesn't seem to help.... something about the patch I'm positive of it.

Try dropping the 'hardware accelaration' settings either for the mouse itself or the graphics.

I think Crunch was referring to your Windows desktop cursor. Trails have been said to cause the behavior you describe. You can check in Control Panel > Mouse > Pointer Options.
Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the replies. I don't have the Trails mouse option activated.
BlackX's solution of toggling resolutions is the only thing that has worked so far.

Hi, I had the flickering mouse pointer problem too. Managed to fix it. Turns out my problem was that I had graphics card 'Hardware Acceleration' set below full.
I turned it back up to full and voila, no more flicker.

I know this is odd as reducing this setting usually fixes problems but there ya go...

One thing to note - I also had 'Enable write combining' disabled. The tickbox for that is just under the hardware acceleration slider.

Just in case anyone doesn't know, the relevant settings are here:

Display Properties > Settings tab > Advanced button > Troubleshoot tab

RClick desktop > Personalize > Display Settings > Advanced > Trouble shooting
Some adapter drivers (my nvidia for example) do not permit hardware acceleration to be changed.
Make sure you try the "trails" toggle in your mouse properties too, usually found in control panel.

i tried the things mentioned on here and i still cant get my mouse to not do that. i am on a Mac using bootcamp to run windows

If someone still have this problem, solution is simle.
Go to "Control Panel", double click "Mouse" an choose tab "Pointer Options".
Uncheck "Display pointer trails".
