and info about the scenario, and a update is on the way!

Make sure your copy of TOT is fully patched and up to date,
The scenario uses files that need the most recent version.
Also the no-limits add-on is useful to allow for the vast sums of money you can amass in this scenario.

Check to see if your unit animations are checked on or off.

Curt: I am a bit confused about seeing BeBro's B-52 unit in a WWII scenario.:confused:
 
it's work without no-limit addon but have event.txt errors too

strange to see Marseille not "french" or India+south Asia chinese even if i understand why u do this !
 
:goodjob: Wow! The update to Curt Siblings Dictator WW2 scenario fixed all my problems. It turned out to be a simple matter of moving all the "Original" game folders' sprite files to a safe place. Now all my units on the map, city screen, and elsewhere use the special WW2 unit icons.

Thanks Curt for taking the time to update this scenario! I started playing last night and am enjoying it a lot. :D
 
in the zip of the updated versions there's no more people.bmp
improvement.bmp, cities.bmp, terrain1&2.bmp....
city.txt ... i was surprise to see egyptians people or roman style cities !

hurry up, update these updated zip ! =))))

there's some strange "errors" i've already seen in the previous version. i test a game till oct 1941, Japanese can't build any tank, artillery or field gun, USA can't build any aircraft, british can't build any bomber...

USA, Japanese, British have some of these units but they can't build any of it !

but i must admit it's not disturbing the fun of this great scenarios ! big work with the events !

I noticed this too. Thankfully I saved the old zip files and then just zipped over with the updated version. Everything works fine now. I am able to make tanks as the Japanese. Haven't tried the other countries yet.
 
tanks,artillery or field gun aren't in my build list of the japaneses cities, very strange.
info: i've not the "ToT no-limit addon"

info 2: icons.bmp is missing too in the updated zip V2.0
 
i've just take a look and see that "tanks" need tech "Mobile Warfare" and Japanese don't have this tech !

perhaps thats why when i test the game level "king" USA haven't any airplanes in oct 41... or japanese any tank or english any bomber. (etc)...., IA won't have research the appropriates techs !

Very interesting. I'm playing on the second level up from easiest. Well good luck in your game! :beer:
 
Hi there

I made an error when sent the new files to TF,
Because of my wording in the mail;
He overwrote the zips instead of updating it with the new files.

Hence missing icons, people etc...

But no worries! The new DICTATOR V2.1 was posted to TF this morning And you should see it this week on CFC!

It features many new tweaks and art changes...

If you have the terrain and icon art from, the previous version, They will do until V2.1 is posted....

Anyone who is interested and if you can handle a meg download,

I made certain tech unavailable to certain empires to curb their
war-mongering in the pre-1942 era.

Do you really want Japan swarming thru to vienna with tanks by 1941?

Also I wanted the USA to become gradually powerful like they
did in WW2.

Do not worry, the AI empires will become more active than you
can handle in the later stages, take on the USSR when they
get their tech rewards in 1943, and you will see the AI being
EVIL!
 
THIS IS A CIV2 TEST OF TIME SCENARIO.

Patch for DICTATOR ToT SCENARIO. V2.1

INSTALL NOTES
-------------
If you are just updating Dictator Scenario, just whack all the zip's
contents into the Dictator Folder, and the Redarmy.wav in the Sound Folder.

For first-time install, follow this operation...

In TOT root directory, Make a HISTORIC scenario folder.
And Make a seperate OPEN SEASON scenario folder.
Make a SOUND folder in both.
Copy the appropriate files from each of the zips into both.
Copy the sound zips contents into OPEN and Historic Sound folders.
The sounds are indentical for both modes.
Install the recent patches if not done so already.
Install no-limits to enhance the economic factor.

SUPER IMPORTANT! Backup and remove all sprite files (.spr) from ORIGINAL TOT directory!

Even if you disable animated units, crazy TOT will try and refer to the static UNITS.bmp
and UNIT.spr files within the "original" folder, removing the .spr files forces the game
to use the WW2 units file in the scenario, if you backup the files, you can restore them
without any hassle, the next time you want to play regular TOT with animated units...

If you do not do this, you will have weird TOT units instead of WW2 stuff.
And EVENTS.txt problems will occur!

If you have followed these instructions...Now you should be ready for WAR!!!
Make sure you read the combat tips before you go for the world domination!

Things that have changed in Dictator V2.1:
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Revised game map, to make Suez vital and to crippled USSR if they lose major cities.

Changed events.txt to curb "too many units" problem in the later game stages.

Tweaked unit abilities, to balance play.

Edited some unit art details.

Increased trade value to Gasoline, Gold and Oil resources, to give empires more rewards for conquest.

Changed some tech details in the rules.txt to influence AI choices.

Included some combat tips and tactics.

Added title art.
 
GAME NOTES
----------
Dictator is a fun scenario, and not a history lesson.
The scenario starts in 1940 and continues to 1950 and beyond.

Depending on how you play, the war may last longer or end quicker.
I have added some super units to entice the player to do research.
The jet bomber and interceptor represent the zenith of jet and rocket
tech.

I decided to add some weapons

The atom bomb is available to all empires.
Obviously, some empire will have the bomb quicker...

Swapping axis tech to allies or vice versa is only possible in open
season mode.
Tech exchanges for national unit techs is not recommended unless you are
a minor empire.
Britian with Fw190s does not really look correct...but try it if you
must!

Due to TOT and it's limited amount of playable CIVs, some nations had to
be
combined under one empire, hence, the Asian Allies and Allied Nations.
I wanted a global war scenario, and would not compromise with a mere
"Europe with Eastern USA" map.

World Dominition and nothing else!

This meant I had to make India and China a single empire.
Also The Allied Nations comprises..um, Allied Nations!

It's the main powers, Japan, USA, Germany, UK and USSR that count
anyway...
