Curt Sibling's ToT WW2 Scenario

Thanks for your kind words, noble Moff.

I found myself that the Russian war is a lot of fun,
(the are my favourite empire in the scenario!)
The Germans present a big challenge but can be beaten back!

I read your battle report with great interest, seem the events
work the way I'd hoped, and your report of no bugs gives me
great happiness!

If you can post what happens next in your campaign I would be
very interested to read it!

As it is, you have brought great glory to Mother Russia!

Greetings Enemy Ace! aka Curt Sibling

Well the war has been progressing nicely. This is one captivating scenario.

When we last left off the gates of Stalingrad were threatened. Many Siberian reservists were sent to Stalingrad. Joseph Stalin tanks, Katyusha rocket launchers, and Elite Guards (my favorite unit because they have a cool song they sing in battle). Archangel and another city way behind front lines were my two aircraft producing centers. They churned out many Yak 9's and Il2 Shturmoviks. Stalingrad poured out Red Army units to be used to hold what I recapture.

Stalingrad itself was only bombed in the next few turns. Stiff AA fire kept the enemy bombers at bay. The main German effort however saw Tiflis, Astrakhan, Kursk, Dniepr, and Guy something or other fall to the Wehrmacht. In the central front Minsk fell and Stalin executed the general responsible for losing Minsk. More reinforcements appeared and were sent to Moscow. These forces would be used in an offensive in the central area at a later time.

Meanwhile the Asian Allies traded tech with me and then they asked me to go to war with the Japanese. I wanted to form a pact with them so agreed. But a few turns later America launched a sneak attack on a Soviet submarine in the Pacific.

Will continue this report in a moment. I'm at work and am getting pulled away but will be right back with more!

Hello again,

Before I continue with my AAR I'd like to say that I can see why playing Russia in this scenario is your favorite empire. They have a great position in the world and are able to immediately send their forces to the front. USA and UK have to ship units overseas to the front which takes time.

So now the USSR is at war with Germany, Japan, and the United States in my game. I'm playing the historical scenario v. 3 just to remind everyone. Quite surprised America attacked me but if it's war they want then war they shall get!

The forces I gathered at Stalingrad were used to launch a big offensive. The cities of Tiflis, Guyrk Sp?, Rostov, Astrakhan, and Dniepr were all liberated. Germany unleased 5 SS King Tigers against me but the Luftwaffe was not so strong anymore thanks to the ever growing Wings of the Red Star! The Tigers were decimated by Joseph Stalin tanks backed by the T-34s. Stalingrads' Red Army units garrisoned the liberated cities while AA guns were brought up from the rear to aid in the defense. Baku churned out many Elite Guards units that were shipped over the Caspian Sea to help liberate Astrakhan.

On the central front I decided to bypass Minsk and head straight for Warsaw. The distance covered was great and my units were repeatedly attacked by Condors and Ju88's. Thankfully Stalins scientist discovered Jet Fighters and several squadrons of them were used to cover the advance. First Vilnius was liberated and then it was onto Warsaw. We took Warsaw but were beaten back in the next turn. The central front was now quite.

On the Asian front things were quite for a long time. Only minor bombing attacks and limited naval action against Japan were launched. I needed time to build up my forces before attacking Japanese held Korea. After a few turns of naval battles with the Americans a cease fire was signed. The cease fire would be broken then reinstated throughout the game with America. Mostly naval battles were waged with them though. Then the day came when Mother Russia was strong enough to liberate Korea and Sapporo as a bonus!

The date is now Feb. 1946

The situation against Germany is as follows. Kursk, Kiev, and Minsk are all threatened by a massive buildup of Red forces. On the Asian front the Japanese islands are threatened. I just need more transports there to get my troops across. America is at war with me but only at sea so far.

I loved the sound files you chose for this scenario. I recognize quite a few of them but I won't mention were you got them from. ;) Those sounds bring me memories of the fun I had with those games from which they came from. :goodjob:

More to come as the war progresses.

A very glorious account, Moff Jerjerrod!

To test the changes needed for Dictator V4, I had a go as the USSR too...I can now see what you mean!
The Third Reich is a demonic enemy that may take some turns
to get moving but, once they do so, they just don't lay off!

I got quite a fight out of them, the evil grey hordes make a charge
for Moscow and Stalingrad, many heroic fortresses of the Red
Army falling along the way...oh, how my tanks and men tried to
set the steppes on fire to hold the Panzers at bay till the Yaks
and T-34s were issued, I almost gave up hope...then I discovered
Rocket Weapons, the tide turned.

Along with the Yak9, the rockets can blast even those steel beasts, the Tiger Tanks.

I smashed into Warsaw and Odessa (which got destroyed),
After losing these factory cities the germans are in trouble...
I will grant them no respite, however...Vengenece will be mine!

Can't wait to see the conclusion of your battle...
I hope you can pulverise the forces of evil, and I will see you
in Berlin, noble Moff!

:goodjob:

PS
The sounds are from many sources, some I mixed myself to vary
the air combat SFX.

Comrade Curt!

It seems we share the glory for the Motherland! :)

Your account of your game is similar to my experience in that you really gotta hang on until the more advanced weapons are available. However, the Soviet steamroller is very effective against the Japanese forces. Even with the outdated Soviet weapons!

Well I should be able to finish up my current game this weekend and will have a report for you when we both reach Berlin!

For Stalin and the Motherland!!!!!!

Greetings Komrade Curt!

Berlin and Tokyo have fallen! Germany is reduced to a few cities on mainland Europe and the war is drawing to a close. Massive JS tanks, Su 122's, and heavy artillery have claimed all of eastern Europe for the Motherland!

In the Pacific only Okinawa remains of the once proud Japanese Empire!

The war with the United States has ended in a temporary ceasefire. You can bet though that once the axis is finished for good that the USA will be added to the Soviet Empire.

In short this was an extremely entertaining scenario. I had a lot of fun with it. My next game will be an ambitious one however. I plan on playing a solitare game controlling Britain, USA, Germany, USSR, and Japan. I'll let the computer control the rest of the countries. Boy this one scenario has stolen all my free time away from Civ3!!!

Good luck on your continuing work with this scenario. Eventually I'm gonna play the USSR again but this time up the difficulty setting from Warlord to Prince. Let's see if I can survive that!

Comrade Moff,
Aliow me to pour you a glass of captured German Schnapps!
(a virtual glass, of course!)
You have brought Russia Honour in a glorious battle against an Evil enemy!

I thank you for your interest and kind words regarding the
Scenario, To see others enjoy the scenario is my reward and
Motivation to do more!

For your playtesting I have gave you an honourable mention in
My thank you list for Dictator V4!
Hope you can test out Soviet Steel when it's ready?

:goodjob:

Thank you Komrade Sibling! (clinks virtual glass of Schnapps with Curt)

I feel honored to be mentioned in your thank you list! I think I'm gonna enjoy this scenario for quite some time. I really want to explore every countries abilities.

As for your Soviet Steel scenario I would definately be happy to give it a try. Even if it's 50% as good as Dictator is then it will still be a smash hit in my book!

Best of luck to you and your endeavors!:goodjob:
