Custom Faction Graphics Question

I've been making an extremely ridiculous custom faction (my first time) and I have everything working perfectly except for the pcx files. For some reason they just don't seem to load. Instead of my bizarre flying spaghetti monster from hell, I get Dierdre with a blue line around her. The weird thing is that I used the Data Angels as my template! Why would it be loading the Gaians and how can I beat it into submission?

I think the same problem was reported in this thread in 2002.

If that doesn't resolve your problems (and no one here can't help you), I suggest that you register at Apolyton (www.apolyton.net) and post your question in the AC Creation forum (http://www.apolyton.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=24) so gwillybj can answer your question.

Welcome Wombat. You're may be having a simple faction installation problem. The Gaians are the default graphic.

Please tell me about what program(s) you used to make your own graphics. You'll want to check you filenames to be sure the .pcx is named exactly like what you put in the Alpha(X?).text, too.

Anything you can tell us might help. If that is the default graphic you're getting for some reason, I cannot account for the line around Dierdre with what I have to go on here.

Dark Wombat, if you zip your files (include your alpha.txt if SMAC and alphax.txt if SMAX; the [custom faction].txt file, the [custom faction].pcx file, the [custom faction]2.pcx file and the [custom faction]3.pcx file) and post them here, we can look at them.
