Custom unit model glitching?

I found a model online for my custom unit but after converting it into a .gr2 and putting it in my mod, whenever it loads in I get a big swirling mess (as shown in the attached video). When adding it I went through the process of converting it into an fbx, then using that in nexus buddy to apply the unitshader_skinned material with it's texture, then adding that into mod buddy with a .fxsxml file. I can make the unit work fine with other .gr2 files from other mods - it's just the one I've made which causes this glitch. Does anyone have any ideas where I'm going wrong and also has anyone seen this kind of glitch before? I can send my unit resources if anyone is interested.

What does your converted .gr2 look like in Granny Viewer? Does it look corrupted there? FBX import is very buggy and often corrupts the mesh in random ways. The only reliable way to get mesh data into Civ 5 is to use Blender and the .br2 format via Nexus Buddy 2.

Thanks for the reply - and from Deliverator too! I did what you said and have now started using .br2 instead and now my model actually loads into the game with my textures and everything so it's almost perfect (thanks for your help - I literally struggled with this for more hours than I'd like to admit and now you've saved me!) - the only problem I still have is that whenever I load it into Granny Viewer or into Civ my model is lying on it's back. I think it might be due to the fact that it isn't animated but I'm happy without animations, also I've tried rotating both the mesh and the skeleton in Blender and re-exporting it but no matter what I do it always seems to be lying on it's back. Any suggestions as to how I can easily rotate it so that the base model is upright in the actual game (without animations if possible)?

Provided that you model is rigged to a skeleton (armature) you can use the Insert Adjustment and Save feature on the Additional Actions tab in NB2 to rotate the model. Simply specific the axis to rotate in the Axis box and the number of degrees in the Rotation Angle box. You should make a copy of your .gr2 file before doing this in case you do something wrong.

Thanks! I rotated my model and now it's everything I wanted it to be :) maybe at some point I'll try to figure out how to make animations but for now thanks so much for the help! I'm going to try and make some more models later today now that I know what I'm doing...
