It is the Age of Heroes in the lands of the North. The mighty, the strong, and the cunning venture out a-viking, and there is a wealth of fortune to be found for the adventurous. And even for those who stay at home, great things are afoot. A cold wind is blowing, and a warmer wind blows back. Olav Firehands, the King of Aegirnaef, has embraced the southern faith of the Fireworshippers and united all of the Jutmark under his crown. Even now, missionaries and Paladins of Manu from all the South filter into the still pagan lands of Wesse and Geatland, seeking to convert the faithful of Wotan - by the book or by the sword.

In Wesse, the long rivalry between Vignarr Tooth-gnasher, King of Frosttonn and Sigurd Fork-tongued, King of Garganfell, casts a shadow across the kings and Jarls of the country. And outside that land, heroes set sail across the Whale-road, and the men of the cold North have spread across many lands in search of conquest and plunder.

1. Perhaps this is beyond your concern, or perhaps it is not. After all, newcomer, who are you?

A: A warrior of Wesse, perhaps in the retinue of a King or Jarl, trained in the arts of battle, and of carousing, and of all the arts befitting a strong and brave man of the North!
B:
A Shieldmaiden, who from a young age rejected the traditional path of the Northern woman and instead took up the spear and shield, in the pursuit of glory and plunder!
C: A Gothi, priestess of the Northern Gods, wise and sage, with powerful arts at your disposal!
D: A Seithmann, a student of runic magic, but forced to keep your vast powers secret from those you help or hinder!
E: A Skald, silver-tongued and golden-voiced, with full knowledge of the Sagas and law-songs of your people and able to charm your way into any hearth or any bed!
F: A merchant, as intrepid and brave as you are thrifty, as any man who travels the Whale-road in search of profit must be!
G: A craftsman, skilled in your trade of choice, and the cunning needed to make your living in the towns and villages of Wesse!
H: A Paladin of Manu, from the Isle of Seax to the West, sworn to defend the Faith of the Fireworshippers with your life and to smite the recalcitrant unbeliever!
I: A Priest of the Manuites, here to convert the Pagans away from an eternity in the Cold Abyss after death and turn them to the service of the One True Lord of the Flames!
J: A humble farmer, ignorant of the games of Kings and Priests, for it is spring, and the harvest needs gathering!

2. Many a man goes on an adventure... but what do you seek?
A:
Glory and Renown!
B: Gold and Riches!
C: Adventure and Excitement!
D: The Thrill of Battle!
E: Love and Affection?
F: Revenge!
G: Justice!
H: To flee from the law!
I: To flee from your enemies!
J: To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, to hear the lamentations of their women!
H: The open sea, a swift vessel, a fishing rod in your hand and the wind in your hair!
K: Peace and quiet...
L: The triumph of your God!
M: Just to see the ocean, once, before you die.
N: A worthy opponent!
O: Rule over your fellow man!
P: Magical Power!
Q: Strength and Might!
R: A home...
S: To go back home?
T: Wisdom and Knowledge!
