Dainichi Sekai Taisen - Open Beta

This gives a pretty good feel of the entire map - nothing too beyond Civ2 norms.

I have Ill start playing it this afternoon if I get round to it. Had a look through the graphic files and it looks promising, although the title screen looks a bit tacky, you should get Sarsstock to make you one for the finished version.

noted, there will be a different title screen for the final release, in line with the style of my usual patch quilt title screens (see ZWK, TRON). The beta title was meant to match the circle cities, now relegated to secondary status.

Had a go at the game and heres some observations I made.

1.The alternate city icons were quite nice in the game in that they gave an uncluttered feel but they didnt go well with the unit and terrrain graphics. It would have been better if you had, had simpler terrain and unit graphics.
2.The allied navy seemed to weak.
3.China seemed to rich.
4.The combat graphics werent very good.

I suppose they werent that weak but I thought the allied navy had a stronger force in the region at the time, but Im probably wrong. Another point the British flag is kind of blurry, not a major thing but you might want to correct in none the less.

Well in the 30s, the US Navy was quite antiquated with the last series of battleships launched in 1922 because of the Naval Limitations Treaty and great depression. It was not until 1937 that they got round to building new ones again,North Carolina's keel was laid in October 1937. And even then they were building at a slow rate at first. The only modern ships the U.S. had were three carriers and eight cruisers.

Japan on the other hand had been building up a new fleet for over a decade and had on hand 10 battleships that had undergone modernization programs, about three dozen cruisers and 6 Fleet Carriers.

The British were sort of between the two but most of their fleet had to be recalled to the Atlantic because of Germany.

I see. Another thing Ive just noticed is that all the citizen icons look very westernized is this deliberate due to the lack of asian ones or an accident?

Edit: Call me sad for noticing it but. Its sould have been HMS Prince of Wales.

The battleship HMS prince of Wales and the battle cruiser HMS Repulse arrive
from Europe as a show of force to the Japanese. They are a major source of
morale for citizens and soldiers of the British Empire.

The cities:
Either you must have shifted the order of them or changed the city styles manually, because this doesn't seem as the ones I sent. Japan has soviet style, and soviet has jap style.

Also, what's up with the Jamaica flag for the warlords?

The Europeans (i.e. Indochina, Indonesia) have the same style as the Soviets. So the more asian style needs to go to the europeans - as the soviets are only incidental to the scenario. Each major race cannot share city styles with any other as the flag is embedded in the city style for the circles set.

The Jamaican flag is just an X, if you have a better flag like 'skull and cross bones' or something I will use it - There is nothing like that from your flag collection.
