I always wonder why everyone tries to be more evil than the next? What's so impressive about being evil?

In related news, those witnessing the execution of Timothy McVeigh (who died with his eyes open) said it was like looking into the eyes of the devil.

So, if you want to be evil go blow something up and spend the rest of your life in prison or be executed. As for me, I think I will try to stay out of trouble. I just look at the the dumb jokers who really did do evil things and sigh, and I wonder if there wouldn't be as many if society didn't glorify evil.

Interesting take on the matter, Herr Border Patrol.
Most of the posters who label themselves evil probably do so merely in order to look or sound cool or amusing.

In my case this use of black humour is only part of the reason. I call myself evil because by the definition of society being good, and that which generally opposes society is evil, I am evil.

It is not to say that I go around committing crime; that is WRONG, not evil.

I take the label "evil" as one that aptly describes me in the view of others. Even my various friends and comrades call me a "dark hearted bastard" as a compliment.

Whilst I can view what I do as good, to others it is evil. Therefore were I to label myself good, I would be tarring myself with their notion of good, which is to opposite to mine own.

Calling myself evil is not a matter of looking cool, or of sematics, or of saying I want to go out and do what that other dead guy did. It simply is a case of identifying where I stand. It is like considering things from the perspective of the bad guys in a film, or the monster in Frankenstein.

Heh, now that you mention it Simon when I think of the broad definition of evil being "morally bad" and the fact it is synonymous with ominous, I think of what George W. Busch is doing by trying to deceive people that global warming doesn't really exist. He is doing this so he can buy the time he needs to exploit the earth to get at it's natural resources so corporations who own those resources (such as his on company) can continue to milk the worlds people out of money.

The alternative to this which he says he will do but we know he is lying through his teeth<IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/satanlook.gif" border=0> would be to fund getting alternative methods of providing energy going.

These other methods would be both cost effective and environmentally safe. But his company would not be making any money off that. So that to me is evil and has nothing to do with being criminal. Just morally wrong.

The word "evil" is "live" spelled backwards.

If I acknowledged the existence of "evil" (which I don't), I would say it is "the opposite of, or that which opposes, the Life process." And, of course, that depends on how you define the Life process.

Somehow this all reminds me of the novel "For Love of Evil" by Piers Anthony. It was the penultimate book of the Incarnations of Immortality series, and one of the best books Anthony has ever written. It chronicled the life of Satan (whose real name is Perry) before and after his takeover of the position of Incarnation of Evil from his predecessor, Lucifer. He was actually a neat guy, and you end up sympathizing with him (no Rolling Stones references, please) and liking him. As someone in the series pointed out, the Incarnation of Evil doesn't have to be evil any more than the Incarnation of Death has to be dead. It was just his office; to know him personally, he was actually pretty nice.

Anyway, it was a good book, and I recommend it to anyone here who is into that sort of thing. It's better if you've read the whole series up to that point so you know all about what's going on, but even if you don't, it stands on its own.

stellar dude he was BORN into the oil business! It's a fmaily business. He is one of those rich kids that was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and he has no idea what it is like to strugle to make ends meet. He was taught that in order to make money you gain posession of land that has oil in it and then you drill for oil.

As for your questions, I have no idea but I am sure he could find a way to make money off it without it showing, just like he found a way to be president without getting the most votes. He is conniving like that.
