Darkness - Chieftain level

Now it's 420 AD. I entered the Industrial age in 380 AD, and I gifted first Greece and then Persia into the Industrial age also to trade for their techs. Greece got medicine, which wasn't the one I wanted (but I traded for it anyway) so I had to gift Persia to. They got Steam Power. So I traded medicine and Printing press plus some cash for the tech I wanted and started building RR.
Then I started researching MT, which I got in 420 AD. Now I'll upgrade my huge (15 horseman) army and breeze through Persia I think...

Complete update following when I reach 500 AD :)

15 cavalry on chieftain is definately a 'huge army'
you could probably send 1 unit to each city:)

Maybe I'll send two to the capital...
No, seriously, I'll probably send them out in pairs, to be sure.

(Edited for spelling :crazyeye: )

OK, I finally found time to play the 8 turns that I needed to reach 500 AD. :crazyeye: (took me 5 hours though...)

After researching MT in 420 AD I went 100% cash for my upgrades for 2 turns and after that I researched electricity in 6 turns (unfortunately I'm not able to get Indus. age techs in 4 turns right now, because my FP is not yet online.
I erred because of the changed FP effects in C3C, so I started to build it really late in a town around 20 tiles away from the capita, in 45% corrupt town, and switched my pre-build even further away ( a 1 spt town) to a bank.

After upgrading my horseman I breezed through Persia in 3 turns, promoting two cavs to elites. Unfortunately chieftain level AI is so incompetent that of the 2 cities they had I autorazed 8. :(
So I moved my army along the railroad to the Russian teritories and attacked them too (that was on the last turn I played, autorazed two cities).

Stats:
Area: 34%
235 cities
58 settlers
312 workers
24 cavalries
5 caravels
7 luxuries hooked up, and the Russians control no.8
Rep. Parts in 7 turns, but will be quicker 'cause FP is up in 3 turns.
Score: 1059 (19 ppt increase)

680 AD

Russia's dead, so now I control 8 luxuries... :D

I declared war on America and Babylon recently, and the war is going smoothly...

I have around 330 cities, and control around 50% of the available teritory (3300 tiles).
Score is nearly 1489 points, with a 29 ppt increase.

I have 450 workers, which helps me improve my lands very fast, unfortunately my turns now take between 1 1/2 and 2 hours each. :(

My main problem right now is getting settlers to their destinations ASAP, 'cause they have to travel quite large distances...

BTW, I love those civil engineers... :D

lol Its funny how you pretty much have the game beaten by 680 AD and yet only have 1489. I forget how small the score multiplier was.

 There is no multiplier on Chieftain! :p

The specialists in C3C are great. You can get a size 12 city that is totally corrupt but has good food tiles to produce as many as 7 specialists after railroads and those 7 specialists can produce 21 science breakers.

The score will rise.... :D

What really seems to slow my quest for the domination limit is the fact that the AI on chieftain level is so incapable that of all the cities I take I raze around 75% of them. Which forces me to repopulate the world using another settler flood, which is way slower than conquering cities... :(

@svar: The change of the way specialists work is great in C3C, just like the bonus of having an agricultural civ, but corruption is really cripling...

OK, I have now eliminated all but one of the AI 'rivals'...
Only Greece remains with a tundra city, which cannot grow past size 2 (I gave it to him :D )

I switched to democracy a couple of turns ago, to get on with full-scale milking and I control 4364 tiles (domination limit is 4373) with some small cultural expansions coming up.
I am researching combustion now, beelining for ecology, for mass transits.

My score is now 2730 points with a 43 ppt increase...

Sounds like you have the formula for a NUMBER 1 score, Darkness......BIG Dom. Limit......Well-Played Game! :goodjob:

BEST OF LUCK!! :)

This is what my world looks like in 1500AD. Not much interesting happening in my game. All my cities are on wealth and the score is steadily increasing.

Score: 5640 point
Increase: 33 ppt

Sorry Bremp, but your no.1 score's going down.... :D

That is looking very good!

What stage of the milk process are you at? Mainly, have you maxed out your population yet? How far away from(or past) your ppt peak?

I was going to have a go at the chieftan score after Ive finished my current emperor game. It looks like your going to make it even more impossible!!!

I am (and have been fully milking/ only building wealth) for the last 20-30 turns.
My population maxed out around 20 turns ago.
My peak in ppt (43ppt) was around 1300 AD, IIRC, about 40 turns ago... I estimate I'm losing about 1 ppt every 4-5 turns, it'll stabailize...

Interesting stuff Darkness, even if it stabalises as low as 15-20 ppt it looks like the 10K barrier is going to be broken on Chieftan

(-> threadjacking begins)
Looking great Darkness.
I think I might try an attempt myself. Allthough my skiils aren't as high as yours and many of the people here in the HOF section.

I tried your settings (Arch, warm, ...) and I came up with a map that has a domination limit of 4501 tiles

It could be an attempt to your high-score (you'll probably beat the No 1 position) if it weren't for my lack of skills.

Does anyone have any tips?
(-> threadjacking ends)

Great work Darkness

Yes, if you want the number 1 spot in a HOF table, dont try and do it on Chieftan

I reckon Darkness' No 1 Warlord score will be the easiest No 1 score to beat, no disrepect to Darkness, and 16K is a great score for that level, its just that the Warlord HOF table is the most under-developed IMO.

Oh no. :(

j/k ;)

Great game Darkness :goodjob:
I believe that your score will be around 10100-10200 points. The high domination limit certainly made the diference.
But be sure that I will try to take the first place back. ;)

That's a great domination limit Jurimax. I haven't seen them over 4400 yet (in my own games). If the starting location is good, than this is definately a map to play for the HoF

@Fret: No problems here, I agree with you. When you calculate back to chieftain equivalent score (dividing by the difficulty level multiplication factor) the warlord level no. 1 is the lowest no. 1 around, so it should definately be the easiest no. 1 to beat.

@Bremp: Thanks :)
SirPleb's score calculator has me around 10100, so your estimation is likely spot on...
And give it your best shot! The more competition the better. ;)

1750 AD update:
7060 points, with a 24 ppt increase....
