I've been having a grand old time in CS: Source and the original DoD, so my question to you is: Is Day of Defeat: Source worth it? It's only £15 now, which is very easily in my budget, but I'd like to know some customer opinions in advance.

Played it on HL1 was fine game
But wuldnt recommend shelling out for the game. Try out Enemy Territory its totally free.

I enjoy Day of Defeat: Source. But it's pretty much like Day of Defeat for Half Life except with HDR lighting, ragdoll physics and better models. I like it! Got settings up at maximum on my computer and doesn't skip a frame. :)

If you get it, look out for the_pink_poodle as that is me. ;)

Surely that's the same as the leap from CS to CS: Source. I've only played the latter so i wouldn't know, but I love it muchly.

Gonna hold out on DoD: Source, mainly because I'd rather purchase it when at least one of my friends has it as well. I will get it though, and stick with CS and original DoD in the meantime.

1.6 > source

though at least my PC can finally play source well

do you know all the commands to make it run smoother and get a higher FPS?

Couldn't agree more!
What is the additional benefit of "source" anyway?
I used to play CS in the past and it was free. Next thing i know, CS is no longer beta and suddenly costs money. Now source comes along. Is it CS with another engine?

Hey ET players that GONDOR map was an absolute BLAST. Especially the two choke areas. Mann it is so fun when you have some good teams.

I had a hoot playing a MG solider, two of us blocked of the main hallway with continueous streams of fire. We racked out loadsa kills even against engineers who tried nailing us with rifle grenades and desperate rushes. Soldiers trying to get pansers off.

In the end finally a scout got us both with a knife. Must have gotten a uniform and came back.

@Kan: Ah, thanks!
@FF: I only ever played the 6 standart maps. Part of why i like ET so much, is that i don't have to memorize too many maps.
If an engineer with a rifle gets into the way of machine gun fire, he is obviously doing something wrong. The whole point of rifle grenades is to bounce them around corners!

Cool! When I play DoD:S this is my home:

http://crowbars.net/

Its a West Coast (USA) server that is typically full in the evenings, as most of the regulars are working adults.

My ingame handle is "Shane" (big surprise).

Also, a big update is due today.

So I heard. Looking forward to the new maps.

I'm usually 'Kan_Sharuminar' or 'Kaiser_Phil' when playing. But I have no particular preffered servers.

Ah, just noticed your location. If you really are in Scotland, its not likely we'd cross paths ingame.

Doh! :)
