what should I do to properly deal with plagues in rtw? That woman advisor said that I should quarantine the city, but how the hell do I do that?

Don't move any units in or out of the city whilst the plague persists. As far as I know that's the extent of your ability to quarantine in R:TW. Could be wrong though.

As for actually combating the illness, build sewers, aquaducts, public baths etc.

I'm not sure, can normal units carry the p;ague? I know characters can, (and I have sent diseased spies to infect enemy cities), but Im not sure if normal units carry it, or at least are affected while outside a city.

A plague, in my opinion is a blessing in disguise. Get your spies infected and start infecting your enemies!

This sounds like a strategy for people who aren't interested in conquering their enemies' cities quickly. I ain't interested in grabbing a place that's ripped up by disease, thus immobilizing an FM for some time, and the style of game I play makes tempo pretty important. :(

Of course, you're not always having an active war with all enemies, just infect those you plan on conquering later on.

You're not warring with all of your neighbors? Ain't this Total War? :p

At the higher difficulties, every AI faction you share a border with will almost certainly declare war on you for pretty much no reason. Even if they aren't, they will ally with those with whom you are at war, put spies in your cities, and generally be the biggest asses they can be. I've found that border garrisons can reduce the possibility of them actually declaring war, but if given the chance, the AI will declare war on you, and for me, this necessitates very rapid expansion on multiple fronts. Only in one game have I ever entered the Third Century BC before I won, but it's not because of choice, its because I'm at war with everyone.

ohw, thanks to all. Talking about infected spies, biological weapons are way older than saddam. XD

You needed this game to teach you that?
If by playing a video or computer game, one learns history, I will not quibble. Knowledge's source is generally irrelevant. :p

cheezy, I'd tell you to go somewhere dark and obscure, but I'll keep the level.

no, I know that it was common to thrown rotten corpses and garbage via onagers and stuff at cities in order to get people sick. I'm not stupid, I had a fine education. But unlike you, I have some sense of humor and education, not in the academic way, but the social and most useful and kind way.

And if I didn't know about this early biological warfare, so what? Would that make me a stupid dumbass? Humility, doode.

No, attacking army usually do this to get people scared. The really good way to make people sick and actually used in ancient times is to bury dead animals usually those infected with deadly decease near a source of water that you think the enemy will use.
