Debugging the lsystem

Durring my test run of one of my mods (the new composite version) I noticed that the lsystem was growing.... I am concerned that this may cause some instability in the mod but I know virtually nothing about the lystem. I have attached the log in question.

Is this something I should be concerned about?

No clue either but I guess this can be good for ctds of which I experience quite a few currently.

Edit: question: Did you rename the vanilla grocer but kept it's artpath? My guess is that some buildings cause trouble if they just get renamed and replaced i.e obelisk is watchstone in WH and coosseum is a bloodbowlstadium both give this shadowerrors now.
 
Thats the part I cant quite figure, none of those where renamed.
So I don't exactly get what changed.

So it happens when you don't rename. The one thing in common that I have with WHFB is that we both use formations. But I have another mod that does not seem to have this effect. Using the same codebase, so its got same graphics the only changes have been XML tweaks.

Nobody seems to know the lsystem either. Sigh....
 
My Lsystem files have been untouched.
This is under warlords.
 
I wonder if you guys could turn on the debugging for those files, maybe that would help...

Well, I haven't a clue about what's causing the problems here, but I'll talk through what I've got and maybe someone else can figure some more out:

BFS that it keeps looking for, I'm assuming means "Breadth-First Search.", and DFS is "Depth-First Search" Apparently, it breaks the city or plot into a 16x16 grid, where all the visible buildings need to be put on that grid and each building has a certain dimension (which can be found in the CIV4CityLSystem.xml)


The thing is, it needs to look for a 2x2 and a 1x1 (barracks and watchstone, these are the only buildings that I really see in that part of the log). This should not be very hard at all. I would be very surprised if such a simple arangement would be causing problems from code in the LSystem.

As for the actual error messages:

The Leaf_Farm_4x4 node only seems to be found inside the CIV4PlotLSystem, not the CIV4CityLSystem, making me think it's not a building causing that error. Was the debug option for the PlotLSystem turned on as well when making this?

That's the only thing that I would be worried about, 'course I only say that 'cuz I have no idea what it means!

seems to me just say that it tried to put a building there, but it couldn't because the building was too big or was too odd-shaped and they couldn't find a spot to place that building.

I would imagine there would be more of these errors as the city starts to get more and more buildings, where eventually buildings can't be seen any more. I'm not certain on any of this, but I don't think there's too much to worry about.

Also, Ploe, it seems Ket had a "LSystem failed to place node Leaf_Farm_4x4!" early in the log that they posted, yet they're not reporting any crashes.

My programmer side hates errors and bugs, but my "cool, then it's not just us" side is kinda' happy :lol:
