Defensive pact gone wrong

Hi,

Just recently finally got my hands on CIV V, and in my second game something weird happened, which i wonde is a bug.

I had a defensive pact with England, which was at war with China(prior to my defensive pact, so i wasn't at war with them)

on turn 199 i never heard of CS Warsaw
on turn 200 apparently China became allied with Warsaw or at least something happened so that Warsaw declared war on England, which in turn caused me to declare war on Warsaw. All logical so far.

On the same turn i got the message that i declared war on Warsaw i also got 2 messages that both China and England declared protection of Warsaw(which if i am correct could have happened many turns ago, but because i just "discovered" warsaw, i get all these messages at once.)

Anyway, the next turn China is unhappy with me because of my declaration of war against Warsaw. And the turn after that the same from England (would have expected the same turn, but ok.)

Conclusion:

My diplomacy points go down by 1 from England because i'm honoring(not that i have much choice) my defensive pact by declaring war on Warsaw which for some reason is protected by England even though they declared war on England.

I fortunately have a savegame from turn 199 on which i replayed it several times with the same result.(if requested can post it, am not at home right now)

I would think it is a bug and the game should cancel any protection of a city before the actual state of war is activated which triggers defensive pact agreements.

You should definately post the save so the devs could take a look at it. That just seems ridiculous that the AI protection of a CS wouldn't automatically end when that CS DoWed them.

Ok, edited the first post to add the savegame.

Don't know if it's important for playing, but i had 2 mods installed, but only a clock(believe the most popular one) and one with additional info screens, like top 5 cities and world wonders. The save was not found in the modsave dir though, but in the regular location

This is a corollary issue to the Defensive pact causing you to force DoW on your ally CS and lose your influence with no recourse/chance to prevent it, if someone comes along and steals influence from your CS (ie: Still in blue, but someone does a gold dump to get more influence). If they happen to be at war with your Defensive ally, you'll HAVE to DoW on your CS.

It's a bug/exploit. But because it happens in the inter-turn with no way for the humans to stop it, I consider it a bug.

It is partly related, since the declaration of a CS triggered the defensive pact , but probably an intended feature, however i agree that defensive pacts should not be triggered by CS's.

But it's not what this bug is about. Warsaw wasn't my ally, i never met the CS, and the influence lost was from England, with whom i had a defensive pact. So even if it's normal for the defensive pact to be triggered, then it should still have cancelled the protection claim to Warsaw from England
