Delay CONFIRMED: 10/26/05 now.

But I've come to expect this inability to meet schedules by game companies, so today is just the expected bummer.

It's not just the transporation headaches (although that's part of it). It's also the fact that for whatever reason, game publishers like to set the "release date" mere days after a game goes gold. This doesn't happen in any other media industry. You don't see CD release dates getting set four days after it's mastered, or book release dates three days after final editing has been completed.

I have no idea why they continue to do this, but it's incredibly annoying. If they had set the release date for CivIV for November, I wouldn't be nearly as aggravated.

So all of us who called ebgames and they said it was shipping/ shipped yesterday it in fact did not ship? Seems weird
guy I talked to said mine had shipped but must be some computer error ?
either way, woke up early for nothing! :crazyeye:

At stores, our computers indicated to us (yesterday) that it had shipped yesterday. This morning they were changed to reflect that they would be shipping today. The same reason is likely the cause for website confusions yesterday as well

Maybe because your computers and their website are showing the same information.

Visited both EBGames and Game Stop today (10/25) at 12 noon EST:

Both stores said the game was not in today's delievry, expect it tomorrow.

This is not an EBGames flame or a denigration of you or your company, Rayanth, but this is why I never pre-order. Who's to say that the shipping delay doesn't carry into tomorrow, or Friday? Meanwhile, I can probably go walk into *shudder* Wal-Mart at 8 am tomorrow morning and pick one up. As a consumer, I value flexibility.

I'm european, so my initial response was laughing out loud :)

But then again, it might also happen to europe aswell since game companies and such ahve a bad habbit of meeting with alot of delays i mean come on.

Computer games have excisted since, well..almost like teh first PC. And over all that time about all of them have always been delayed.

5% makes it on time or well on time on the set release date
50% moves its release date forward ranging from 1day to 1week
30% goes 1week to a month.
10% suffers from delay upto 4months
5% never gets released or delay gets over a year.

But what i still dont udnerstand is, why do CD's and Movies and such make it in time and games not? If the game companies know they got a lower production capacity on there discs, why not take that in acount with the release? Its like all they think about is this.

"Hey"
"what?"
"games done"
"sweet-ass"
"yeah, lets make public we release it tommorrow. ima go bring it to the guys that makes these discs now"
"But its sunday, there closed. And printing 100.000 copies takes like 3 days, add to that teh shipping time to teh stores and needed preps it will take atleast 2 weeks before all is done"
"wow there buddy, NOW you tell me? i juz told the gamers it was released yesterday"

This delay is not affecting just EBGames ... it is affecting every store in the united states. Walmart, best buy, gamestop, EB, game crazy, circuit city... you name it, they won't receive it until tomorrow.

The ONLY reason Walmart might get it first is that they drive their own shipment trucks. if they have it ona truck tonight from their warehouse to their store, then they might get it before UPS shows up to the other game stores with their copies.

But we WILL get it tomorrow...Walmart, Best Buy, EBGames, everyone... it will be tomorrow.

I will have it next week. It is funny though, how people get crazy to try to be the first one to have a game.

C'mon, it is only a game. :D

You are worse than a kid on christmas eve.

Well I just called EB about 5min ago and they told me it will be in today he check the computer and everything so.......... I dunno Im in Canada so maybe things are ok here?? I dunno but thats what I was told. oh it's 10:54 pacific here.

Can't... wait... no... more...

huxley how is it your job to tell us about the release date info? do u work in the marketing department of fraxis or gamestop? or are u someone who went out ask when the game comes out, and posted here?

Well in case anyone from the Southern Region is wondering, i've done a pretty thorough checking of all the stores here in town (La.) and as reported all EBgames and Gamespots now expect delivery tomorrow around lunchtime. I couldn't get a coherent answer out of Wal-Mart, other than, "Yea we is gonna has it sometime soon". Best Buy said tomorrow (tho another said they didn't have a release date yet).

And Amazon still tells me it's going to ship to me on the 24th!!! OH... wait...... damn [pissed]. But its still gonna be delivered today! i'm assuming amazon has perfected Bulk Matter Teleportation and time travel, since they are planning to go back in time and ship it to me yesterday, and deliver it to me today, even though it hasn't shipped yet... OR HAS IT :hmm:.... DUM DUM DUM....

Gee, I'm sure glad that I didn't take time off of work until the 26/27...

I was expecting Wednesday, but hoping for today. Oh well, one more day to do some actual work. :)
