i would like to know what you guys think about these two governments...they seem to both have cool advantages to me...but i'm not sure which one to go with...so far i've been moving toward democracy in every game i've played...but communism may be good too

what are the advantages/disadvantages of each...and which strategies should you use for each gov't?

thanks

I'm of the same mind, curmudgeon. Unfortunately I can't shed any light on it for you. I almost always go for a cultural or space race victory and so by the time I discover communism (usually in the early industrial age) it doesn't seem practical to disrupt the democracy I've been using (usually since the early middle ages)and make a change that could negatively impact my research timetable. But I'm almost done with the game I'm currently playing so I'll try communism next game and post a comparison.:groucho:

Well, communism is far more militaristic government than democracy.. If you are planning to do extensive military campaigns then you should go after communism, if not then democracy. Beign a religious civ is a big boon here. If you are religious you can instantly change the government from democracy to communism and vica versa for war and peace times.

Communism sucks from my experience. I thought it would really reduce the corruption in my cities that were far from my capital.. instead it just raised corruption in cities next to my capital and did nothing to reduce corruption in distant cities. There are no bonuses to communism.
