I apologize if this has been asked but I couldn't find anything in the first 5 pages of forum threads and a search on democracy brought up the Dmocracy game.

In Conquests I've noticed when i switch from Monarchy to Democracy my production levels drop significantly. I had a city producing 18 shields in Monarchy and when I switched it was only producing 10 shields. I thought it was supposed to go up? All my cities suddenly were producing less.

Anyone else seeing this and why?

prsmith: This never happens. How about a screenshot/savefile? Perhaps you used to be mobilized?

allinjoe: What government were you switching from? Republic to Demo is not a huge step, Despotism to Demo is.

Are you sure you don't have a happiness problem? Losing MP's might cause extra entertainers if you have governor on. Also if you have governor on, your first turn out will probably have your populace emphasizing food, since shield are of no value in anarchy. You can turn the governor off and then immediately back on to see production emphasized again (otherwise it will take a turn to reset).

Good question. I'll have to pay more attention next time.

Thanks. Stile you pegged it, governor was on and once I reset it production went back up.

I'm still seeing massive corruption after switching to Democracy, I've attached a screen shot of a city with Courthouse and only a few cities away from my capital. I own the entire continent so there's no enemy paths to go thru and I can't seem to reduce the amounts of corruption, some cities are only producing 2 or 3 shields even thought they're on the same continent

The difference between Republic and Democracy in terms of corruption is very low. Also, being on the same continent doesn't help very much if the city is still halfway across the world. :)

I experienced the same problem. I found my answer not in the governor, but in the We Love the King Day. When I was in Monarchy, I had no unhappy citizens because of my military police, so many of my cities were in WLTKD. This lowers corruption significantly, so when I came out of anarchy and had unhappy citizens, I was no longer in WLTKD and the normal levels of corruption came back.
