yes, that is the one thing i don't have ( a server), and also I am not sure how to make it so that clicking each city would show it's details (such as what it's producing and how many people it has) unless I updated it manually, can anyone give me an idea on how 2 do it...
About updating the info on the cities, I think you have to do it manually. All the data is stored in the sav-file, and I don't know how you can retrieve it, is that really possible?

Anyway, I think that the staus of each city is not the most importent matter, let's focus on the other suggestions mentioned in this thread (voting, regsistry, updated map etc...)

yes, i am working on the login thing now and will get the voting done after that, i just think it would be a neat feature to have

It's possible to read the save file, if the page is programmed to do that.

However, I was kind of hoping to manage this thing a bit better rather than just jumping into it. (before it gets too chaotic, like the demogame) :) Now that we've got the analysis of it (and an idea of the bandwidth that's needed - thus polls like 'What is your modem/connection speed?' - I want to create some data flow diagrams.).

After that, comes the designing, then the actual making of the webpage.

That's not hard coded. :) It's hexidecimal values (binary numbers represented by 1-9, A-F). If you get an editor like hexedit, you'll see those in a file, and things will start to make sense. (i.e., scroll down, and you'll see (in the text field) things like "CITY", "UNIT", "TILE"...).

That's the data area. A program just needs to read the hexidecimal values.

ok, where can i get the hexedit from? i will see if i can somehow script it in,

also ok if you dont want me to start yet i won't but i will get the scripts etc ready for when i do actualy create it (so its just a matter of copy and paste). also I'll just create some flat images of how i want the site to look and see what you guys think...

what's the current status then?

well i have lost everything cept a couple of flat images etc and am awaiting further instructions

Gd luck wif the web site. I'll put it as my homepage to advertise for demogame when it's finally up! ;)

Webpage Update!
Webpage Dataflow Diagraming now in progress. :)

Another update:

The design/writeup is running smoothly, and a host is nearly in place. BTW, I need someone to do graphics. The webpage will temporarily have text until graphics can be done for it.

Here's an example:

;)
(Remember, we *ARE* the competition! :D)

Anyone here have photoshop? If I recal, the Civ3 build your own fanpage kit had immortals in it. We could edit those, throw in some of the Avitars, and use them as rollover buttons.
If you have an image converter, you could just take shots from the game itself. Also, if you could have certain object represent certain things.

The discussion/updates are now here.
