I would like to throw in my Support for the Mac User Groups since I myself have used a Mac before :)

Suggestion for 1st official discussion: What is your guess about April 28th event?

Mine is the following: This event will mark the beginning of the new online music service by Apple and new iPods, at 10, 20 and 30 GB.

Obviously, I have to join!
Think I'll have to watch the satellite feed for that event. I doubt it'll be anything earth-shattering, but who knows.

As a side note, did anyone else see the thing on /. about the new Apple mouse patent?

New Apple history date to remember: April 28th, 2003

At the special event organaised today by apple, the corporation launched it's very own online music service, new iPods, iTunes 4 and Quicktime 6.2.

The new music service is, basically, a server with 200 000 tunes online. You can download each tune for 0.99$ [99¢].

iTunes 4 now sports a new ACC audio codec. ACC audio is about 3/4 the size of a mp3 for the same sound quality. It also brings out the new online music service.

The iPos was granted it's first major update today. The form factor of the iPod has been changed. While still having the same scroll-ring, the buttons are now place in a row above it. The buttons are also backlit. The iPod is availible in 10, 15 and 30 GB formats.

Quicktime update only brings support to AAC in iTunes.

Now: discussion Are you pleased by this update, were you exepting more ? Express yourself!

Welcome, Immortal. It's about time we begin your brainwash… euh… switch promotion!

***Fogot to post a news flash about this one***
Brad Oliver posted the first semi-public 1.29 Civ 3 Mac beta in the Civ 3-Macintosh forums a while ago.

I'm in. My iMac has been faithfully serving me for 9 months now.

By the by, I have been a lifetime user.

Re-update: after testing the new AAC codec for a day, I find no significant difference between 96Kbps AAC and 192 Kbps MPEG 1, layer 3. If you're not familiar with this kind of things, it means that AAC is half smaller than mp3 for the same quality. It seems that I was a little bit too much conservative with the 3/4 tag.
