Demographics Analysis

Yes were going to have to get military units eventually. Man it's tough being the King huh? :king:

Well, our starting plan was custom-tailored to make sure we could work the improved Gold tiles at the earliest possibility. So I would expect to see the other teams catching up to us in GNP fairly soon. I highly doubt the present dichotomy signifies that no-one else has any Gold/Gems/Silver. ;)

True I just think it is better to work the Gold/Gem/Silver sooner then later.

I'd imagine if they had Gold/Siver/Gems in their capital's fat cross they'd want to start working them ASAP. It's not a strange decision we've made to go for them quickly, so I'd expect at least one of the other five teams to make a similar decision given similar circumstances. If someone else has similar resources to us we should see them make the GNP jump within a small number of turns.

It makes our Empire grow strong that's why.

Commerce is still a vital part that feeds our Culture, Science, Gold and Espionage. The hammers can get us Units but Sicence will get us better ones.

But you do win wars by having Macemen/Riflemen/Infantry/Tanks first. ;)

High commerce makes you a target.
Tech trades balance things out a bit though. Plus others are likely to catch us up in GNP soon. Having a little bit of an edge isn't too bad.

High production does the opposite.
Uh, really? It does the opposite? I don't know about you, but I don't leave the guy with the massive MFG alone, saying "oh, he won't be a problem for us, let's not target him". ;)

REally? And here I thought I had been neglecting commerce by not building enough cottages in my games. All the hammers in the world will mean jack squat if your not teching enough for your Empire to build things. Hammers do not get you sciences.

I'm sorry but this seems really strange to me. Are you suggesting we should try to not be the top GNP civ because we'll be attacked for it? If people will team up against the top GNP civ because they're a threat, then they'll team up against the top MFG civ because they're a threat by the same logic. As a high GNP producer we make ourselves a valuable partner for tech trading, and like others have said if we get those critical military units sooner we can have a period of time where a small number of units can decimate the larger but less well equipped armies of our opponents.

Also it may be worthwhile to note that nobody knows who the top GNP civ is yet, we're anonymous and will remain so unless we develop a large tech lead that they can see after alphabet, or if we open borders with our opponents and let them come in to see our capital.

We have two gold in our capital and we're financial, not having enough commerce isn't going to be an issue for us for a very long time.

I'm after a balance. We need a good spread of food, gnp and mfg. Focusing heavily on commerce, when we already have 2 of the best commerce tiles possible, in our capital, before turn 30, is nuts.

Well we hadn't decided what our worker is to do after he finishes the last gold mine but he can be sent to mine the rest of the hills we have. Too bad Workshops suck right now and we don't even have any worthy sites for them. The northern part of our island has alot of hills if that is what your worried about. I never said anything about ignoring them. In fact were tie for number one in production, we will catch up in the food department as well.

Don't we pretty much get all 3 (commerce, production, food) in the 4 tiles we're improving first? Gold mines aren't just for the commerce you know, this early in the game it's hard to beat a 3 hammer tile. Which makes me wonder, exactly how is someone beating us on mfg anyway?
