Been playing one campaign for a while now and I've been denounced and befriended by every civ at least twenty times so far. I can't help but laugh at this behavior. I've also noticed that wars don't seem to last very long in..well..any occasion. Is there a mod or some kind of trick to give reason to diplomatic affairs or am I stuck with a bi-polar bag of nuts?

Does anyone actually denounce the AI? I read the Civopedia entry the other day and it suggests denouncing an AI you plan to attack so their other enemies can come out of the woodwork... Does denouncing someone in mulitplayer do anything?

I do.

Its fun, especially if you want to provoke war with those Immortal/Deity types.:)

Well, I didn't denounce -anyone-. I've simply been contacted by other civilizations saying they denounce me, but that doesn't ever amount to anything because it's settled within a few turns or so. Of course, they relapse so...the cycle is a broken one.

I've always denounced, though I've stopped doing it for some reason, but usually when somebody gangs up on somebody I tend to denounce them to get a positive diplo gain.

It's useful for defining who are your enemies, especially people you are at war with/enemies, because then there's a change your Friends will denounce your enemies, instead of declaring Friendship with your enemies, screwing up your whole relationships.

Well, I'm not really talking about what it's pros and cons are...I'm explaining that it's being abused. Diplomacy is a bit of a joke. That whole song and dance.
