I was thinking about those quests Kael was talking about. This is just my first few thoughts....

Scattered around the world are small barb towns and settlements. I was thinking there would be specil inprovements limited to them that would start "quests". Supose you have a barb town. They would have a battle with another civ and later after the major civ unit leavs a graveyard (thanks qes) appears randomly on a tile in the barbs territory (note: this would happen ever so offten so there wouldnt be graveyards every where (maybe like a 40% chance of happening)) and when you have a unit go through again it could pillage the graveyard. Once this has happened the unit would get a "special" promotion that would show you and others that you just pilleged a graveyard (we'll just call it the Grave robber promotion for now). At first you wouldnt get what you pilleged but when you take that unit back to your capital (holy city? or place of origin?) you would get a large sum of gold or maybe some special item (barb Axe (addes promotion to any unit you choose), Plague (disease in city and promotion for units), etc.)

Others could be like a dragon den near the city with the dragon hoard. If pilleged there would be a chance of you geting a dragon baby unit that could be upgraded to a adult dragon over time and used by your civ (hero unit?).

One of my most resent is a "moveable" resorce type quest. Say you see some mana in a rivals territory or in some barb territory. You could have a worker (guided by a defencive unit) go and "steal" some of the mana, allowing you to use that resource for a few turns.

I also like the idea of having some of the rituals (amaggedon rituals i suppose) require some items neccessary in the ritual. Like maybe slaves to sacrifice to the alter along with a special item (like a staff made of the holy wood of a specail forest wood from an ancient forest on a island in the middle of the ocean).

As i talk about the ocean and island i also think about things that happen on earth. It would be a nice addition to the map if you could set up oceanic vocanos that would erupt and creat new land where the land, which would start off as a wast land, would upgrade into a useful piece of land that you could settle. :D
Along with that there could be tectonic activity that would destroy or maybe creat tsunamis and earthquakes that would remove land and creat more mountians that would turn into volcanos over large amounts of turns erupt starting the cycle over again.:goodjob:

Tell me what you think about my ideas and what you think should be revised...

Uhm, Chalid, I don't think he can access that thread, it's in the private forum.

Nope, that'd be correct. Since the Quests aren't going to be implemented for a while, the Design: Quests thread is in the Team Members Forum at the moment.

"The internal forum" sounds like a sweet wonder. You ought to turn it into one, but first you must collect the blessings of Kael, Chalid, Woodelf, and others. Only then may your civilization build "the Internal Forum".

Give yourselves some self-love somewhere in the game guys, you earned it.
I'd go on that quest.

Chalid Astrakhein, Corlindale, Yvain the Woodelf, Kael Coalbane, Loki: All heroes:D Wilboman may or may not turn out to be a frost giant hero when the Illians get turned into a major civ.

Please use the original Design: Quest Thread:

Edit Link Removed. Its in the internal Forum.... :mischief:

If you have access to it could you present the above scrolls to the mighty king, kael, so that he could see my ideas. (hope he would consider the thoughts of a lowly servent :D)

I'm sure Kael has read it already. If not, he will have read them shortly. He spends more time in the public forums than in the private ones. Short of in some extremely intensive design discussion phases, we all do.

Yeap I have read them. We are all just a group of people hanging out and talking about FfH.

As of this moment Im not to interested in quests (or new features in general) because we are closing this phase. So Im actually more interested in interface improvements and cosmetic issues and speced features that havent been added yet (like the lanun heroes).

But when we do get to "Shadow" the press on quests will be huge and we will be looking everywhere for creative quests of all sorts. One of the nice things about a forum like this is is you can go ahead and list any ideas you have now, and then when we are ready for them we can go check them out. I am frequently reading through old threads looking for ideas.

I pulled the public quest thread just because I thought it would be frustrating for players to post ideas without any real possibility of having their ideas accepted in the short term. But as long as that is understood, feel free to post away.

Hey Kael, While im sure you apprecaite input at any stage, it might be useful to the greater community if you put "what your looking for" somewhere. Something you could update regularly. This particular post is a perfect example of what personally ive been wondering (but never thought to ask).

Maybe in the "Why You are here" post. Edit the first post to say what your currently working on - Cosmetics and interface. In this, most threads and conversations might be more useful to you as they'd garner more topic-specific ideas.

Youll still get the ramblings of crazy people like me, but at least for many others it may be specific crazy ramblings.

I do ask for specific feedback when I need it. To be honest the playtest community is so big, and has been so good, that I don't really need for much. So just play and post your ideas and problems you notice as your able.

If you are looking for something to do beyond that I always love seeing people having fun working on their own projects like the writing, scenerios and new code. I also appreicate when some of the old timers help out the newer players by answering questions and such.

But outside of that we dont really need anything but overall feedback. I will be sure to post if we need more.

Fair enough. When something needs writing (flavor or otherwise) let me know. Writing (and when not in forum, its decently spelled and has appropriate grammer) is the only skill i can offer in any real way.
