Developing nation, 50 year plan.

Send them to the Mars and the Moons as a first wave colonisers. For this we need to increase our space technologies by leaps and bounds, nor must we shirk at the idea of human fatality.

My plan is usually to find a good city-site, and then start building a warrior. :mischief: ;)

Why? Lack of education.

Solution? Education, in particular women, would seem to be the key to any developing countries needs. Highly educated people tend to have less children and don't have the need for larger families to support the families needs. Besides birth control, the increasing fraction of jobs not dominated by physical strength, and the mobility provided by cars and even bicycles, have given women more freedom.

Why have a 50 year plan? India has successive 5 year plans, and it seems to be working for them.

50 years was part of the paper boundaries.

I spent most of the night chatting about this. How can you collage kids stay up all night? I gave her about 2 hours worth of material shes got to shrink down to 5 minutes by 3PM.

Europe and US produces vast amounts of surplus grain, much of which is never consumed. Why can't we give them to the Africans?
So it's fair to say you believe Africa is the White Man's Burden?

He just thinks everything is Americas fault or Israels. Africans starve because of stupidity on the part of dictators in charge of their countries. If America were to give aid to Africa where do think most of it will go? Sure as hell ain't going to the starving people.

While chatting with my uni. aged cousin she told me she needed to come up with a 5 minute proposal to address the high population rate increases in developing nations. I told her I'd do the paper for her as it seams very interesting. What needs to be included is why the pop. rates are up, possible problems that may arise (cultural, environmental, diplomatic) and solutions for those problems. This is on a general scale of nations and not regional or specific but I'd like to include a few specific problems. I figured you lot would be a good source of critical thinking minds to better hone the message.
So far I got:

1) Why. Populations are on the rise because of
A) better medical. ( better medicine, better educated doctors, better heath care institutions.
B) cleaner water
C) more food

2) Problems.
A) Environmental impact. (deforestation, more pollution)
B) Health impact. (spread of disease from over crowding, spread of comuicable diseases ie. HIV/AIDS & TB, polluted water)
C) social impact. (state Treasuries going broke in socialist pay outs)
D) cultural impact. (?)

3) Solutions.
A) natural
1. spread of viruses curb pop. by killing
2. limited crop production curb pop. by starvation
3. geological unrest

B) man made
1. war (for more land and/or water)
2. migration
3. contraception (forced and voluntary)
4. better farming techniques
5. high yield geneticly modified crops
6. infrastructure improvements
7. regional stability (given political will)

Thats all I got now but I know theres more substance to ponder. Any ideas? And can we keep this in the realm of the generalized. I don't want "Its teh Amerikas fault"

Thanks for playing.
In San Francisco there's a good chance you would at least have your tires slashed for that:)
Saying war and genetically modified crops are solutions baffles me and probably many other San Franciscans (we generally view them as problems).

How can "liberals" be so... illiberal?

(By the way, I want the word "liberal" back; you quasi-socialists stole it from us and made it a dirty word.)
