So, been trying to get the Dovi's working... its a bit rough. They have pretty trashy leader traits, and their world spell doesn't seem horribly useful.

However, I have recently devised a pretty decent strategy with them:

1) Do Not build a city right away. Instead, use your settler to scout out the nearest enemy. Mercilessly make your way to that enemy (Get as many goodie huts as you can on the way, you'll need a bit of money for this).

When you get outside their borders with your army, cast their world spell to get 5 wolves. You'll have 4 warriors, a scout and 5 wolves, they'll likely be defending with a Warrior or two.

IMPORTANT: Before you conquer the city (It'll likely be turn 10 - 20) make SURE that you settle with your settler. If you don't, there'll be an odd bug that leaves you without a Palace, which will DESTROY you.

Anyhow, that out of the way, use your massive army to capture the city. Your capital should be close by so that you do not incur a large maintenance penalty.

Outcome: You will have two cities, and the one you captured is likely to be size 2. You will also have a 'pack' of wolves to keep scouting with, and gold that you pillaged from their capital. Most importantly, one less bad guy, and you, having kept your First Settler, will likely have had the oppertunity to scout around a good deal. Remember that part of what makes this strat worth 10 turns of anarchy (Basically) Is the second city right away, while not incurring major maintenance costs.

I haven't played with them too much, but my general preference is to wait until I have a large standing army and I am nearly done with Nature's Revolt to use the Hunt. Then you wind up with VERY many STRONG wolves (base strength of 3 + 1/2 of the strength of the unit which spawned it). This is also especially good if you get Acheron, Margalard or Gurid or you have managed to acquire some later game Hero units.

sounds interesting actually. I think i'll give it a try on my next game. Might have to adjust that tactic for higher level difficulties though, because the AI starts with more warriors.

A thought is to wait until the AI sends out his first settler, he'll leave with settler +2 units, leaving the capital comparatively weaker defended. If you sack the capital before they can resettle, the units will despawn.

Though, with such a long wait, you WILL want to create your first city as soon as you find them.
