Hi,

Huge CIV fan.

I have just placed CIV 2 on a new laptop. The trouble is I dont have diagonal arrows on the laptop. Using the mouse is a bit of a pain for moving units.

Is there a way to add hot keys to replace the missing digonal keys so I can easily move units?

Thanks for any advice.

If it's a Toshiba, the number/arrow pad is mapped onto the main keyboard via the Fn key (lower left, with keytops usually in light grey). For those without, use Google to look for "keyboard remap" or a similar keyword combo. There are several out there, decent ones are free or very low cost, and they let you assign any key combo (like Ctrl-W to NW-arrow). I have not used one in years so I don't have a recommendation.

THANKS!!!! My Dell also has an Fn key that does this ... even though no arrows are shown. I had no clue. thanks so much for the taking the time to give this tip,

Regards

Or else what you can do is play without diagonal arrows.
That's what I did when I started playing civ2 (9 years ago  ).
I got the game without manual and played (and won :D ) my first dozen games without diagonals, before I noticed by accident that diagonal moves were allowed :crazyeye: .

I have the same thing with my laptop:
use the home, page up, end, and page down keys in the upper right corner for diagonal movement and the arrows for regular movement.

It's been working for me.

Next time, get youself a widesceen laptop with a full keyboard, it makes things a lot easier.
