Dictator II is complete!

I finally have this thing complete!

Behold, the newest update DICTATOR II - v2.1!

I have found since the release of Dictator II, that there has been calls for changes in the
balance of forces and trade power between the empires. The Axis had a big advantage...

Not anymore!

I hope this fixes some of the war issues and makes the experience more level, no matter what empire you play.
The game is tougher for conquerors...more rewarding for other tactics.
The Allies are no longer bankrupt, money will flow, heads will roll!

The AI USA and UK will pull off some rather courageous attacks on Europe!
The AI USSR also has a far better chance of besting the forces of evil...
And AI Japan no longer runs riot thru China either,
The UK stands up to the AI attacks of Germany now!

Playing as the Axis you might find it a bit more of a challenge...
Use Air and Artillery assets well...and you will triumph,
Use them wastefully and you will suffer with steel!

The Axis themselves are still powerful, I can't give the "Arsenal of Democracy" an easy fight, can I?

I feel the balance is finally there!
So dive in and see a lovely war rage accross the globe!

Things that have changed in Dictator II - Final Battle!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New revised combat system.

New money rewards ensure Allies are always financially secure.

New combat has spurred varied AI unit usage.

AI churns out tons of units on a big scale.

Allies are far more aggressive...The USA now really goes for it!

Japan and the Third Reich are now more balanced.

New paint job for most units.

More trade for empires.

Allied attacks on Normandy and Italy far more deadly!

Allies now frequently strike and sieze cities once they get geared up.

I think this is the definitive version! Give it a shot!

Here is a new set of rules...

I noticed a little typo in the improvements.
I also gave the units some new ability flags that made sense.

Just overwrite the old rules!

Enjoy!

Thanks Curt for the Update! :goodjob:

I'm on holiday this week but will try to find time to give the update a go. Can't keep me away from a computer forever you know! ;)

Comrade!

I have a feeling you will enjoy the new update!
If you get a chance to post a battle report I would be very grateful,
they are always a great read!

Enjoy your hols!

Well I started a game as the USSR using your latest update.

 What a difference! :goodjob:

I've only played a couple of turns so no real news on AI behavior or strategies, however I did notice some nice things so far.

First off I like the new artwork for the units.

Second, at least for the USSR, I've noticed a dramatic increase in production and money making output. This is really gonna help make an interesting game. I've already rethought my old strategy with the USSR and am working on a new one.

That's it for now. Just wanted to let you know what's going on and will report more as I get the time to play more.

Thanks for the mention in your latest release note! :D

Curt, you should really get paid for all the time you've put into making such a mammoth scenario as this. I raise my virtual beer to you!

Honoured Moff, Thanks a lot! :goodjob:

If someone like yourself is having a good laugh playing the scenario, that's my reward!
Cheesy but true!

(Opens a virtual bottle of non-regulation Vodka)

"But have a drink! There will be hard times ahead on the Russian front, Comrade!"

Greetings comrade Curt!

Here's the latest battlefield report. Operation Barbarossa began on 22.June 1941. Stalin however carefully planned his defense in anticipation of a possible German betrayel. Since mother Russia's economy was very healthy, Stalin had the time to organize his defenses. The red army increased in size. Since many of his scientists were gone because of the "purges" his army was obsolete, but it was big. Many cities in the Soviet Union were able to churn out troops while still building shops, universities, etc.

Germany had overrun most of western europe and had seized London prior to it's attack on the USSR. Britain however was not out of the war yet. Not by a longshot. She too, apparently was able to churn out military hardware and hold her own. Now that Russia was dragged into the war things were looking up for Churchill.

Meanwhile in the east, Japan was slowly taking over China. The Eastern Allies were putting up fierce resistance and did not allow Japan to simply walk in unopposed.

Russia was ranked 4th most advanced nation in the world and was slowly catching up to the West in technology. Things are very brutal on the Eastern front. Wave after wave of panzers and stukas are killing many soviet citizens. The line is holding but beginning to weaken on the Kiev and Minsk fronts. Stalin somehow neglected to pay attention to these areas but he will be able to contain the German onslaught. Only time will tell.......

So in sum I have to say that Dictator II has evolved into a very playable scenario. The Allies are losing but not as badly as before the latest patch. I'm very happy with the improvements made to the economies of all the nations. Germany iand Japan are not rolling over the whole world yet they are both still great forces to be reckoned with. Excellent jog Curt :goodjob:

As I become more immersed in the game I'll provide you with more feedback. "Here's to victory!" :D

Comrade, under your leadership, all that great comrade Lenin has built may not be lost!

I recently played as the Germans and went head to head with the might of the USA! (full continental invasion!)

What a battle! The Allies but up one heck of a fight, and wait till they
get their mangy mitts on the atom bomb!

Glad things are more balanced now, I will be using the combat system in my upcoming Dictator MGE!

I plan to release a little update for D2 soon, so I'll keep you up to date!

Best of luck, and give em' hell!

:goodjob:

Curt,
I finally got a chance to start a game [dance]

Playing as the Bad Guys on Deity level, I did manage to conquer England, but it was a LOT harder, and left me with almost nothing for Barbarossa. In short, excellent job Curt! I think the play balance is good now.

For your next task, how about you make the Civ2 AI smarter

Where is the UK's carriers? They should have a force of 2 for an attack on the Italian fleet at toranto, yet there is none...

I salute you, mein Freund!

Great title-pic... :goodjob:

Curt, where do I get this update? Or is the one I downloaded a month ago the same as this>?
