Did the difficulties drop -1?

I'd like to play on Immortal, but with one single change: I'd like the AI research rate to be lower than default Immortal (maybe the AI research rate of emperor or king).

What line in the AI Handicapps file controls AI research? I can't seem to find it. Thanks in advance.
 
Immortal seems like emperor to me now. Spies makes the game so much easier...
(used emperor to screw around and test stuff last xpac)

Haven't tried Deity yet, but going there as soon as I get most stuff figured out.

I was struggling at emperor/immortal border just before G&K came out. Now immortal has become much easier to the point i stopped playing it and moved to Deity, which is reasonable challenge now (50% success rate). More choices for happiness problems make my starts stronger. And strong start = strong finish. Also, diplomacy seems controllable now, i can almost always choose my allies and enemies (denouncing, waning modifiers). And a special one goes to Tabarnak and his Tradition Approach.
 
I've always played enjoyable games at prince level. In G&K I now find that level very easy. Struggling at king though.

This is where I am. I could win on King pre-G+K, but only with a decent roll and somewhat warmonger attitude (though without the AI trade tricks).

with G+K, I've only tried two King games and left them, one from boredom, the other I didn't expand enough, tried to make up for it by pushing culture hard, and eventually fell.

But then on Prince, like you said, it's much easier now with the new design.

Trying a Hun game on King now, and got a nice river start with many pasture opportunities in the surrounding area, and barb camps all around, using Honor SPs, so we'll see how hard King is when the gloves come off :)
