Yes. These days you get all sorts of strange looks if you have a short moustache, and give the straight arm salute.
Of course, it might have something to do with the uniforms, the banners, and the SS bodyguard regiment... :satan:

There are some male relatives of Hitler in America, with the last name and all. They have, unfortunately, undertaken a pact not to breed, so to kill off the bloodline. This is one occasion where one is not in favour of celibacy, as it denies the opportunity of redemption from future potential generations. They also could just change the name and hush it up...

The swastika comes from India, and is connected to the earliest Indo-European peoples of northern India and Iran ("Iran" = "Land of the Aryans") dating back 3000 years at least. You can still go to this region and see the swastika decorating embroidery around the home there, and indeed I've heard of some Indian immigrants to North America having trouble when their American neighbors saw this stuff. It obviously has a very different, and more benevolent meaning for them... It is a fertility symbol but also a power symbol, and comes in male and female versions - depending which way it is rotating. Hitler of course chose the masculine one.

A strange side to Hitler and most of the top Nazi clique was their obsession with medieval "magick" (to use the Crowley spelling), especially the Rosicrucians. The Rosicrucians, born of 19th century Romanticism, were excavating ancient history for symbols to use for their rituals, and the swastika was one. Hitler created his Aryan mythology partially out of what he learned from the distorted version of the Rosicrucians, and of course he had to create the myth of the beautiful, intelligent and powerful übermenschen being "polluted" by outside breeding to cover the fact that modern Punjabians and Iranians have as much (if indeed not more) claim to ancestral connection to the original Aryans as any European people. Sometimes the truth can be so inconvenient....

Not long ago some kid did the salut on a class photo
here in Sweden and he now must pay money.
Almost like when you drive too fast.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned that the word 'Fascist', which Mussolini adopted for his party, comes from the Latin word 'fasces', which is a bundle of sticks wrapped around an axe, used as a symbol of authority in the Roman Empire. Mussolini adopted this as his symbol, as part of his attempt to say that his party would restore Italy to the greatness it knew under the Romans. Hitler picked up a lot of his imagery from Mussolini. He was also obsessed by paganism and other sources of dodgy inspiration.
