Now, I haven't been fully successfully with this strategy but I am working it out. Early game seems to go well.
Civ: China or Siam. My guess is that Siam is much better for this but I've been playing China. Actually you can probably can use anyone. Pick your favorite civ.

Works with these settings:
Pangea
Strategic Balance
Policy saving (recommended)
(Quick pace was used)

I think you pretty much have to play strategic balance or else you're gonna be rolling the die pretty hardcore.

Strategy:
The goal is to get a barracks, armory, and heroic epic down asap.

First thing: Build 3 scouts (maybe 2). You need to find every civ, and every city state asap. Beeline into writing.
Next get a worker out:
Either build or capture
IDEA: Declare war on a nearby civ and steal a worker. Maybe you can suicide a scout if you need to. My theory is that civs that have been declared war on will build up slower.

Trade everything you possibly can. Open borders, iron, horses, luxuries...anything. You must ally with a maritime city state as soon as possible. Usually when you are in the process of building a National College.

Techs:->Writing->Animal husbandry->Ironworking or maybe 1 luxury res. tech->Steel->Currency->Education

Production: 2-3xscouts->After worker(build or capture)-> Library (PAPER MAKKKERRR) -> National College->Barracks->Heroic Epic->Armory->swordmanx3-4 ->Horseman x1-2->Market->National treasury->University

Policy: Tradition -> oligarchy?-> Patronage down to +33% science from city state-> Oligarchy?->Rationalism? Save for order?

Strategy (continued): This relies on allying mass CS. You should be able to get 4-5 allies fairly quickly.

I don't have any concrete plan that works yet but I propose this:
Use your army and maybe take a city or two. After you have the national treasury up start spamming cities and trading posts everywhere. You will only have 1 production city. Your capitol. Then rest will provide gold and science.

So far by turn 100 I have been easily able to get around 120-140+ science per turn and with lots of research agreements up but I haven't tried tradepost+city spam.

If you complete the patronage tree, you'll also gain a fair number of free great people that don't increase the points needed to produce them in your cities.

Plus if an AI you're at war with has a CS ally and loses ally status with them, the turn after you make peace with that CS, you'll be back to +20 towards friends with them instead of still near max anger, due to the 1st policy on the right hand column. This makes it real easy to then ally that CS yourself and have them help you against their former ally. :lol:

I tried this and it worked out well. Played a game to turn 151. Then it crashed 152 and I didn't feel like opening civ v again.

This game I went Siam. That guy is OP if you abuse his city state bonuses. I had 1 maritme for awhile then went to 2. I tried to get the cultured allies up fast. Elizabeth was somewhat close to me and I attacked her first.

I went 3 longswords+1 catapult. Managed to take 1 city. I took oligarchy and lay siege on the second city. It took a long ass time to take it down. Not until I had a cannon could I capture it. I went cannon tech first (for ironworks) instead of rifles.

My cannon had a +range upgrade on it and I took 2 more cities with it + rifles. Went artillery->infantry and she sued for peace after I took yet another 2 cities. I got 2 cities from the peace deal and a ton of gpt/~270 gold.

I saved my policies until industrial and went order instead of rationalism (1 city until industrial). It felt like my science was really weak but I guess everyone else was slow as well. I think rationalism is a safer route to go than saving for order.

After I forced lizzy into her little corner of the map, I went for Oda. I started with infantry but soon got mechanized infantry and took most of his cities.

I don't remember exactly but I think was getting around 150-170 science by around turn 100. Things kind of slowed down after that since I didn't go rationalism. I had around +350 science by turn 150. I made around 5 RAs earlier and that let me catch up. Also I think everyone beelined nukes or something because I saw around 3 manhattan projects go down before I even had mechanized infantry.
