diplo victory in sight just need some help

I have 28 units stationed outside the city of hastings. It is 1290AD and I am the Persians on Monarch level. I am trying to attack the english city that houses the united nations. I am doing this because...
a) only 5 civs remain, 3 of which love me and then the english, my mortal enemy
b) The english have bulit 7 parts of the spaceship and are constructing 2. i am running out of funds to continue to sabotage production. I can not catch them as I have only built 2 due to a substational war with the vikings during the middle industrious period.
c) i want to win as this is my first ever monarch game

My question is this, will i be able to house the united nations for enough turns with 28 units in order to run for un head (whatever its called) Will there be an election if I take control of Hastings or will I have to wait a number of turns.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It will be 11 turns before a UN vote will be called. You might have to take the English's captial to destory their spaceship.

A saved game would tell alot. However, twenty-eight doesn't sound like a great deal when railroads are in place. Im taking it for granted England has railroads. They will be able to throw alot of troops at you. What type of troops are the twenty-eight? If they were say mech infantry or modern armor you may have a shot at it. However, you made it to their city with the UN, so you must have been kicking some butt. I somewhat agree with Gumby, you may have to take the captiol city and destroy the spaceship, but that actually sounds harder at this point depending on how far you will have to fight your way to it. Your already at the city with the UN. Try for the UN, what the heck?

thanks guys wow, i didnt even know that taking the capital destroyed the spaceship...hell i will wait about 15 turns keep sabotaging production on their last 2 peices of the spaceship, send over my 2 carriers, and 15 modern armor. and thentake the entire continent bit by bit.
