Direct3D & APG 'not available' ??

Recently bought Civ3, installed it OK, but it continually failed to run from both menu and Shortcut, even after several reinstalls. I also upgraded to DirectX 9.0. I ran the DirXDiagn tool, and under Direct Features ('Display' tab), I noticed both Direct3D and AGP Texture Acceleration are 'not available'. DirectDraw Acceleration is OK and enabled. Is this causing my Civ3 not to work? Does this have to do with my video and sound cards? or something else?? Please help, many thanks in advance.

First-off, what video card do you have?

Secondly, don't know if this will work, but try it:

Go to 'control panel'.
Double-click the 'display' icon.
On the window that is brought-up, choose 'settings'.
CLick on the 'advanced' button.
On that screen, click on the 'troubleshooting' tab.

That page should have a slider marked "hardware acceleration". This should be set to 'full' - if its not, then that might cause this problem.
