Quoting from the system requirements provided so far:

"Civilization: Beyond Earth System Requirements

Minimum:
OS: Windows Vista SP2/Windows 7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz or AMD Athlon X2 64 2.0 GHz
Memory: 2 GB Ram
Graphics: 256 MB ATI HD3650 or better, 256 MB nVidia 8800 GT or better, or Intel HD 3000 or better integrated graphics
DirectX: Version 11
Hard Drive Drive: 8 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c-compatible sound card
Additional Notes: Other Requirements: Initial installation requires one-time Internet connection for Steam authentication; software installations required (included with the game) include Steam Client, Microsoft Visual C++2012 Runtime Libraries and Microsoft DirectX."

It looks like Civ BE supposedly will run on an Intel HD 3000 GPU while it also requires DirectX 11, which the HD 3000 is not compatible with. Any word on how they are going to manage this or if it's an error? Or is there something I'm missing?

Thanks in advance. :)

It's technically possible to require the DX11 software and only a DX10 enabled chip. This is due to how the DX11 software works, parts of that are purely software. And seemingly they went with that for BE.

So the requirements don't seem to be in error.

None of the cards mentioned in the minimum requirements are actually dx11 cards. The dx11 thing is probably tied to the OS which at Vista SP2 minimum looks likely.

The DX version of the chip refers to the hardware acceleration it will give you. The DX version installed on the OS is what will actually run. So an HD3000 will run DX11 - but the CPU's going to get involved in helping run it. This might result in longer turn times, since the AI can be extremely CPU intensive as well.
