10 and 11 will only run on windows vista and 7, plus you need a card that supports at least dx10 to tun the game in the 10/11 mode.

About the differences... Here you go.

You cant tell the difference unless you play and see them both in realtime. Still screenshots really dont show the terrain improvement under DX11 as clearly as playing in DX11, and then having your eyes burned by going back to DX9 does.

dx10 -the ground textures are much better , farms look better , reflections on water , and reflections on marsh from sun (looks great )
dx11- same as 10 + tesselation that adds geometry to the ground to make the mountains and hills look better

I had trouble with DX 10/11 so I started playing with DX 9. Than after I took a dinner break, and I went back and found I had 2 year old driver for my card. Once I upgraded the driver I launched the game with DX 11, not sure I can tell you exactly the difference, but it is much nicer on DX 11.

if the game runs in direx10-11 mode then its compatible, right? I don't think my integrated graphics support dx ten. It runs fine and it looks different then dx9 not necessarily better though.
