Now, quite obviously I'm biased - I prefer my own proposal. I do also like what Rik has put together. I'm not totally thrilled with Cyc and TruckingPete's though - I think each of them miss significant chunks of land that ought to figure in our long-term plans.
Specifially, the jungle between us and the Babs isn't in Cyc's map. Creating a province there would require a war against the Babs. In the future, yup! Right now, not so sure - and I'd like to see us grab that land NOW, and block the Babs from our turf.
Pete's proposal doesn't cover the desert to our west - there is some nice land there - lots of flood plains that should make some great worker factories. Think of the future - the Size 12 plan on steriods!

When were you planning on drawing in the southern borderline for Berry Province?
Southern border - basically it's right at the edge of the picture - I might have cropped a bit much. It does need to be a bit vague, assuming we put a city down there to block the Babs off, the border would be at the southern edge of the city limits.

Not really. Many civilizations have lived in DG-provinces.
Southern Border: As long as we don't know the exact Lay of the land we can't make southern borders. But that's not absolutely neccesary. We can always make a "Berry's Southern Border" discussion + poll later on, when we know enough.

We don't need a huge provinece every time. Look at some of the USA States ..they are small...

How about getting rid of the 4 useful tiles next to the western river that currently belong to Prov 3 and give them to Prov 1, which *could*, in theory, put a city near there and utilize them far more effectively than any city in the desert would?
To compensate, four jungle tiles from the southern part of Prov 1 could be eliminated.
Although this would further screw Prov 3, it would cut down on later conflict over the usage of those tiles. Just a suggestion.

Minister DaveShack returns to the office after being held hostage for a couple of days by two barbarian tribes known as the "testers" and the "managers". To his dismay, he finds that the citizens have ignored the grand plan for settling the land, and have instead been discussing proposals for deciding which governor will be responsible for which future cities. Figures, we're trying to grab some land, and here people are talking about politics again.

1st point - Province 1, 2 and 3 should follow that river north of Vandelay. i.e., take off the tile north of Vandelay. Also, take off the southern tile south of the jungle so that the province follows the contore of the jungle. Province 3 should follow the river (gains 6 tiles).
2nd point - Also, some tiles are under the fog, and that means we're only going to have to redraw the borders... We should include those...
