I need help urgently.

I just bought Civ 2 but there is no instruction booklet. I tried for an hour but can't do anything. It just says click on the capital and build settler units. HOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game is about to be thrown in the bin as the worst game I ever played, but seeing all the comments on here, it must be worth a try.

What I need is a website of instructions or at least an idiots guide.

Please help to save Civ 2 being binned

1) When you start a new game and choose the lowest difficulty level (chieftain), you get a tutorial: the game explains to you what to do next. I think it is the best way to get started.

2) If you prefer to read the manual first, you can find it and download it (pdf format). Look here:

http://home.tiscali.cz:8080/~cz045662/civ2/glindex2.htm

3) If you still have problems: post here and ask.

Thanks for the link

I did start on easy, but after a few minutes, it says to go to my capital city and click on new settlers (or something). I can't find where to click

Check through the "Brand New Grandma" thread for a number of similar questions and answers. I think that your last question (and other similar ones) may be answered there.

You don't have any cities until you create one. You move the settler you got when you started to a nice place and build one by typing a b or clicking on build a city in the drop down command menu. This city is now your capitol city. NOW you can click on it to decide what to build next.

I knew my stupid questions would be useful. I have been on vacation and went nuts not being able to play. I bet I will probably have another question before the day is over.

Jetsetwily1958- Download the manual and follow the Tutorial step by step. That should answer your first question. Post followup questions back here - a screen capture or a SAV game could help us figure out what you are asking too.

yeah it took me a while, BUT I found the manual/tutorial on the disk...I too bought a copy like a year ago, and had nothing in it but the CD and I think the advance chart...there was somethin, but it wasnt a manual...been a long time.

I dont have a long or short memory or a good one, but at least i have one.

There are some books about Civ II on Amazon.com as well as eBay.com

Maybe they could help. One of them says advance stragies.

Of course I am still in remedial studies.

For Gods sake DONT YOU throw Civilization away, *EVER* , this is one of the *BEST* games made ... *EVER* !

If you notice that the Civilopedia is erroneous, that is when you call up the Terrain data and it shows completly wrong info its because of a bug in the 'GET_INFO.EXE' program that reads the Civilopedia data base. I have found the solution and am posting it under a separate thread, check for: BUGFIX CIVILOPEDIA

I do hope he did not throw it away. You are correct it is the best game I have ever played and now I have four other people "Hooked".

If he kept the game he may end up to be a nutty as the rest of us. :crazyeye:

That is: A new thread in the "Civ2-Technical Support" forum for anyone that may care.
