I haven't found any info on this subject by Googling or searching this forum, so here goes the question.

Quite some time ago I bought all the DLC (well, not them all at once). I really loved the Wonders of the ancient world-scenario. After a completed Fall of Rome-scenario and a bad start in Into the renaissance-scenario on the emperor difficulty, I found myself playing the Wonders of the ancient world-scenario once again, this time on emperor.

To my big disappointment the G&K features were not available. Ok, I know some features can shift the game balance, like the religion, but at least I expected the 100 HP feature and some other basic feature to be available.

Am I the only one who find this a bit annoying? The scenario definitely lost some points if you ask me, and since both the DLCs and the G&K are bought and not just free DLCs, I believe this should have been resolved at the release of G&K or at least in a later patch, which I doubt will happen. Though G&K brought 3 new scenarios, I almost consider the DLCs an old game I'm afraid I won't get back to.

What do you guys think about this? Is it really ok since we paid for it all?

It was a little bit disappointing, no doubt, but the thing is, say you had the 100 hp in Mongolian Scenario, that would completely brake the scenario, why? Because you have only 100 turns to win, and pretty much, majority of the scenarios have a turn limit anyways.

I think it's nothing more than their attempt NOT to have MORE work thrust upon them.. okay that might've sound a little bit mean, what I mean is, why bother giving yourself more work if, the truth being is majority of the scenarios are optional anyways.

Why would 100HP in the Mongol scenario brake the scenario because of 100 turns? I find no connection that has anything to do with the balance of the game.

Well, of course it will give more work, but is there any difference between this and a patch update? If people knew about this, I guess no one would buy any of them. I would definately demand a patch for these scenarios if I was thinking about buying them. And now that I have bought them, I consider them obsolete and badly spent money. Espicially the latest I bought since I have barely played them. I've up until now just been playing a couple of games with Korea, but newer actually played the korean scenario. And I could think of several people who heard about the upcoming Gods & Kings expansion pack, and for this reason would buy the expansions in the waiting time up until the release. Again - badly spent money when G&K was released.

Not so much the 10x hitpoints but that in G&K what they arrived at is it takes longer to kill units than in vanilla.

But Mongol is a scenario; and scenarios all include that scenario's tech trees, units, rules, etc. A new copy of the scenario would need made if it was desirable to include G&K features in it.

Not to mention the real value of (most) DLC is the Civs/Wonders, not the scenarios. Don't get me wrong, the scenarios can be fun. But I would have, and I think most others would have also, payed the same amount for the Civs and Wonders without the scenarios. The scenarios are still playable, if you really want, but the true value is setting up a normal game and having the added variables of the new wonders, as well as the play-ability and challenge of the new civs.

True it might take longer, but then I would rather that they made some updates and gave you 120 turns. Yes, more work, true, but when someone pays for stuff they should be interested in gamer expierences and update these DLCs too. On the other hand, why would any buy the DLCs now if they just knew what they would get (by reading this thread for instance).

Well DWilson, I can partly agree on that, but now it just feels like I've been playing full price for half a DLC (new civilization but not new scenarios). I'm playing a lot of games with my Civ5-friends, and I have convinced them all to buy the G&K expansion. However, none of them have bought any DLCs though I've been talking warm about them. But since they haven't bought them we can't use it in multiplayer, and I don't think it will be easier to convince them now that they've lost the DLC scenarios with G&K compatility - exactly what I was talking about that playing probably won't buy it now since they only get half the game for the full price.
