Do armies heal in enemy territory?

I'm gonna be pretty upset if they do and it took me this long to figure it out. On the other hand, I'm a peaceful guy, and haven't had much experience with armies, so it's not that bad. I'm talking about before you build Battlefield Medicine, obviously. I think one of my armies that spent a whole turn fortified in enemy territory got some health back, but I'm not sure.
 
Because armies are more than just the individual units together. I suppose, from a realism point of view, you can also say that armies carry with them more supplies, medical equipment ,etc, than normal units do...
 
In Conquests (at least according to the manual), all troops heal in enemy territory. They just do it reeeeeeeaaaaally sloooooowly......
 
ya, that is interesting but I suppose that you should just build an army so massive you don't really need to waste much time healing, that's my strategy anyway
 
Isn't it due to this field hospital thing?

That's exactly what happened to me. I think this may be the first time I had ever left an injured army alone in enemy territory for a whole turn.
