Do I have a problem?

I save my games whenever I fear something bad might happen (troop upbuild, barbarians uprising) and for the rest I rely on the Autosave function. I hardly reload any of my saved games but occasionally you get across situations in which you thank yourself for saving anyway ;).

well i always have autosave on.... but im getting better at refusing to reload... even if im playing on warlord level!

I save every few turns in the modern era. Too much crap to worry about, and if I build the UN I always save before calling for a vote. I hate to lose a diplomatic game.

I used to have that problem too. Than I realize there is not much fun if I keep insist on a perfect game. So I forced myself to go into 'ironman' mode and only save before I quit. After few games, I get used with it and game is more exciting afterward because any minor mistake could do huge damage. So I have to play with more care. The only time I reloaded now is in early game where I made a keystroke error and moved into the wrong direction (every move matters in early games).
Also, when playing diety level, I gave myself 5-6 turns to explore so I can at least know the starting area (consider the AI cheats and knows the whole map, this isn't that bad). This is to save myself some time so I don't have to re-start tons of times to find a good map. After the start, I will go straight on.

Not sure if this helps, but try force yourself to not to reload for few games. I think it is only a habit and you will get used to it.

Don't save between turns. Saving every turn is good because of crashes. I don't prefer autosave because it doesn't tell me anything.

A simple method which works for me:
[name of map: usually one letter, z to a][year, i.e. B####,####][comments, ie. anarch, GAbegin, GAend,Repub, Egyptwardeclared, sumariadeclared, etc]

This gives me the easy option of answering internal questions: what if I had not gone to war then but 20 years later, would I be stronger?
