I work at home too.....you mean you actually get dressed? I do that to go out :D .....or if callers unexpectedly knock, they hear a shout of "gimme a minute"......

yeah i get dressed, in my pajamas, silly . but i don't make folks at the door wait a minute, they just have to pup up with it if they're decent PJs. like today's set is actually Hello Kitty, mom got it for me for christmas. along with a Hello Kitty toaster and a Hello Kitty coffee maker. i am not joking. my mom totally rocks!

my former office job was for the US gubbmint. they had all these controls and stuff. i'd sometimes do some internet surfing but i never posted anything until i got home.

where i work civfanatics is blocked by a firewall, happened when we merged with another company. Before that time I was browsing this forum more than doing work. So... i suppose it's better this way :yup: :nope:

You can hack it if you know what your doing. The tried to block me once.... don't try that anymore!

Since my job title is "Homemaker" it's pretty hard for me to do anything without saying I'm doing it "at work." :)

Some of my other job titles include "Choir director," "Webmaster," "Office Help," and "Publication designer" - all for my church. Usually when I'm working on any of those jobs, I'm not reading/posting here... but I do have plenty of break times.

My husband works from an office in our house, too. He likes to spend the day in his pajamas, but I put on 'real clothes' every day. It's just easier for me to actually feel like working if I'm dressed... otherwise I'd just play games on the computer and skip all the boring work I'm supposed to be doing. Then again, just wearing pajamas all the time sure cuts down on the laundry!!

if i couldnt post from work, i would just have to play at work. Posting holds me over because I actually play on my company laptop. I have even loaded BtS up a few times to check out civlopedia or show a coworker my latest game.

Reading the forums helps to clear my mind when I get coders block.

I'm afraid I do most of my browsing and posting at work, since the job is usually a standby/monitoring kind of role... too much free time, if anything, and a highly competitive salary. You could even say I'm being paid to surf the Internet!

Fiddling with servers it's my job, anyway ALT-TAB is always ready..it would be a trivial joke even for monkeys to understand that BtS is not " strictly " related with pcs.... :)

Whenever I'm somewhere that has sites blocked, I just connect to my home computer (using remote desktop), and browse the site from there. It's very convenient, and I don't have to worry about anyone snooping. :)

As the title says, do you read the forums and make posts from work? I'm a student, but I noticed there seems to be more ppl viewing during the day than in the evening so?

Shouldn't have to remind you but it might be "during the day" for you but
how about some of us who live all over the world? You know, timezones.
So if you're in the States, we might be 6-12 timezones away. Anyway, I'm
retired so I could be online at any time of the day. Right?:)

Assuming the corporate firewall allows LAN-WAN RD connections and assuming you have a pubblic IP available for the will ;)

Don't have to make those assumptions, you can alter the port to "trick" the firewall, and everyone has an IP address if their computer is connected to the internet.

Isn't playing civ, taking care of your citizens, and ruling a nation everyone's real job?!

I mean yeah, I leave my civ world for 8-10 hours a day to sit at a bank and then play music to make sure I have electricity and a stable environment to keep churning out the tanks to keep Monty off my borders...

Yes, posting from work is one of those guilty pleasures, like chocalate or pron. You know you shouldn't be doing it, but happens reflexively when you are bored or the addictive part of your brain neeeds a fix.

My brain pretty much always has to be multitasking or I get bored. If I was a truly great employee, I would multitask multiple job functions and get some efficiency improvement. Instead, it is usually 1-2 job functions plus browsing the internet/forums. Fortunately, Civ is an order of magnitude less addictive for me than being in a raiding guild in WoW was, so I feel a lot better, and waste a lot less time these days.

Given that I drive a truck for a living, posting at work would be illegal and extremely dangerous.

I do all my CFCing in the gaps between work and other activities, such as housework, drinking, playing music, or spending time with the wife (actually, I do a lot of my posting whilst spending time with the wife... :mischief:). I come here whenever I have nothing else to do for a while, but not enough time to fire up a game of civ or to read a book.

I used to browse a lot at work on my quiet days... but then they took it off me!

Hehe When i use to work for the Cancun Police Deparment nothin but playin computer games all day!! lol except when they would call me up for duty
