Do you ever build "defense roads"?

It depends on the terrain surrounding the besieged city will call for defense roads or not.

I've had few cities where there was so many rivers and hills that roads were necessary for my troops to move smoothly and grind down the invaders xD

I don't think I use defense roads in a classical sense, i.e. roads to nowhere to improve rapid response time. I try to make my road systems multi-functional. Especially when it comes to maintaining trade routes. Can't even remember how many time the AI has plopped a city in the middle of the worst patch of land in my empire that just happens to cut a trade route.

Ironically, after I voted on this poll that I never use them, I played a game with Inca where my whole land was hills and rivers and I had to build a significant defensive road network. Luckily, Inca UU makes them free.
