I started to play Civ about one and half year ago. It's hard at beginning, but slowly i could improve my skill and play well. however, sometimes i feel lonely of playing the game because there is nobody around me that i can talk with about the game. none of my friends play Civ, most of them play RTS or FPS.

I am glad that i could find this site and meet many of you guys who love to play Civ too. my question is, do you also feel lonely of playing this game? how do you cope with it, besides visiting this website? do you try to encourage your friends to play it?

thank you very much.

When I first got Civ3 my brother lived at home and played it, so no. But then he moved out, so I tried to convince my friends to play it. That didn't work out as they weren't really interested in computers, let alone 'exciting' strategy games :p
Then I found CfC, so it got a bit better. But in my mind y'all are ficticious people that live in my computer, so there's still no one I can really talk to about it ;)
That, and the fact my interest in civ has kinda gone. I only really post here now when i'm delaying writing an essay or something. At the moment it's my university application :)

no i don't. my friends play Civ and i got some f them to play Civ and other games so i'm not lonely
the only reason i have to feel lonely is because i'm the only one who is actually good (well, maybe one out of the top 2) :p

Nope, I have a Civ playing Relative/Friend that I can discuss the game with (Even though his current home PC can't run Civ3, and he hates Civ2)

Edit: Also, i think the word you were looking for is "Do you feel lonley while playing CivIII?"
I understand that English isn't your first Language, just giving you a quick tip. :)

Im not lonley because I converted a friend(Lozzy Ozzy) first to Civ and then to CFC. Although he hasnt posted here recently because his brother kicked his PC over.

i don't feel lonely playing civ3, i just put some music on and it creates a comfortable atmosphere.

don't feel lonely at all, at least not while i'm playing civ... :(

Right now, I have a C3C R&R game going, my daughter in the next room is winning her first C3C Diety game, and my wife is playing CivII. About a third of the time our supper coversation is about Civ. We don't feel like we're lonely Civ players.

I get incedibly lonley with civ. :(
I've tried to convert my friends into civfanatics (and republicans), no such luck on either. I desperatly look for someone to talk to civ about, but my family couldn't care less, and these forums have rules, so no posting threads just about how I won my latest game.
The closest I've ever came to meeting someone else who plays civ was a few months ago, on my way to my locker after school. There was a group of a few kids, laughing, one girl said "all your base are belonging to us" one of her friends asked her where that was from she said something along the lines of "it's from ... hmm, I don't know where it's from". I was going to tell her, but then I would've missed my bus!

i evny you guys who have friends or close ones that can share the fun of game with you.

Yes, my first language is not english, i was born in china and came to America 7 years ago. I used to play english version of the game, but now i found a chinese version so i am playing this now.

it made me even more lonely since not too many chinese people play this game, at least here.

ps. the chinese version is translated pretty well, except they think industrous is related to industry. so China is a "Industrial" and military nation.

People are different.
Some want to have company all the time and feel lonely very quickly when they are without company.
Others actually prefer being alone most of their time.
And many are somewhere in between and like some balance.

When i get home after being with people at work for 8 hours, i prefer being alone for a while.

PS: nothing wrong with any of those people, as long as they feel ok with it themselves.

I'm usually too into the game to feel lonely.

I do the same. But my music isn't exactly 'comfortable' ;)

I don't think the question is whether you are lonely or not, it is more whether you have someone to talk about civ with, and whether you feel 'lonely' in this respect...

Lonely? No way! Put on some MP3's and play the night away. I want to play Civ III to *get away* from the world. I want to be alone. After another crappy day at work it feels good to get into a Civ game. None of my friends play Civ and I could care less.

Option 5

I don't feel lonely cos I almost exclusively play it with my wife, and the same for her
