If gold rushing if finishing a production with gold then I do it all the time. Later in the game when I have more money, I'm starting wars, and I'm capturing cities it is essential. I hurry the production of my tanks when I need them. I hurry the production of theatres and libraries for my newly captured cities to expand their cultures. I usually have money to spare, or I turn my science rate to 10% for one turn to make some fast cash.

What's the national treasury for if not for late-game rushing?

If you're financial and have the Kremlin, I'd say gold rushing is very handy. Especially in all those commerce cities that don't produce a lot of hammers, I'd say 3 for 1 is a good deal. I've never really done the math, but I go with my gut-feeling, not the facts ;).

Im for rushing it helps out a lot when in a pinch, as to you second question... I think how the work out the costs is fine and i would rather have a 3 hammer tile then a 3 gold one, while later in play when universal sufferage can be in play the 3 gold is nicer

I didn't even know how much it costed. It just made sense to me and really helped me win wars. I'm playing a game on Warlord right now and I have like $20,000 sitting in my treasury. It might be time to move on to noble. :D

Yes that might be a good idea :goodjob:

I normally only start rushing stuff during late-game and when I conquer cities. I will rush as many cathedral buildings and theatre, library, etc. to push back the enemy culture. I often use the same tactic by building a city in a tiny free space beween two or more civ borders.
