Do you play archipelago, pangaea. or continents?

I just switched from civ2 to civ3 and played pangaea (huge/70% water) my first 2 times. I did this to avoid navy battles while I learn the basics of civ 3.

It is interesting each time I ended up with two continents and several small (1 or 2 tile) islands. KInd of defeats to purpose of playing pangaea. Next time I will play continents. At least I will know what I am getting and can plan a navy in time.

You would think firaxis could at least get this right.

Since January, I always go standard on landforms, but random on everything else on a large map with 12 civs. The random continent sizes add to the exploration experience. But I prefer the mid-sized continents, when the computer is kind enough to give them to me... :D

Pangea, mostly because I hate the slow sea movement. When I play my edited game I'll play continents 'cause I increase movement of every ship.

I play 70% water archipeligo. Standard map.

Usually, you'll get a neighbor. Which is vital. But, you're not constantly harassed by them. One to wipe out, the rest to play the game with. Me likey.
