Do you still think of the AI as a friend?

No, I imagine them to be creationists... :mischief:
 HAHAHA - i'm totally on your side, Perfection!

On topics, AS are NEVER friends. The only dead AS is a good AS... or was it the opposite?!? :dubious:

Regentman ... my rep is at 85%+, is there a problem, or does it need to be 90%?
I REALLY WANT GPT deals!!!

The AI is designed to be defeated, not to be a friend of the players.

I remember playing entire Civ2 games from start to finish without a single war between any civs. This seems to be near immposible in Civ3, unless you play one on one with France.

I always play the builder-diplomat, where I have über culture, and simply take my neighbor's cities with temples and libraries, and I strive to have perfect relations with most civs. I do this to a fault, actually. It has often lead to me getting raped by a coalition of several computer nations. :/

I hate killing Gahndi. He's so old and fragile.

"Come in, would you like some vegetable curry?"

From the moment I heard Joan of Arc say that we were friends I knew that I'd be safe, cuz I'd never be alone. An Emperor player. shoudn't speak aloud bout his feelings, my hurt and my brain don't make me too appealing.

I'd hope Joan would hook up to me, run the buisness of the alliance familly. I had an empire, she did just like mine. I gave her my love and the techs she never had.

Joan would think I was a good guy, returned the respect graciously, make me wanna cry. Be friendly, but had our millitary too. Changed my strategy with Elissabeth and Bismark. But Joan rejected me. Declared war on me. C'est la vie. Civ3 is cruel, treats you unfairly.

Even so, a victory there must be. Artillery, you complete me...

You crack me up, Admiral... that was really poetic...

"Artillery, you complete me..." good stuff...

On topic, I prefer aggressive neighbours declaring wars on ME, so I won't have to take rep hits declaring war on them.

This continent is MINE, you fools! :D

Just the two of us... ;)

Never a war in Civ II? What level? I can't play king without most of the AI getting pissed at me!
Oh yeah alot of wars, but it got to the point I could avoid it, and all the AI's were always at peace with eachother.

I believe it was Prince and King skill level, I never got into Emp untill Civ3. But I had a few too many peacefull games where yeah I either "won" or "lost" depending on the spaceship and all that. :shakehead  But then the last cell snapped in my brain and I wanted WAR!!! WAR DAMN IT!!! :ar15:

Well at least in Civ3 peace is more difficult to maintain, though I've got really good at manipulating the AI again

"Artillery, you complete me..."

I treat the AI's honorably and as if they were human. In my mind, I instill personalities which helps keep the game fun. This is why I always hold a grudge against the Celts, Germans and Zulu's, for being such bastards to me in the past, and why I almost never attack Greece for being such a great and honorable ally in other games.

The one epic game I've won on emp. (retired 4000 pts ahead) I was beeing a complete bastard all the way through (Desp-Rep-Fascism only). This was after trying the peaceful approach a couple of games and always beeing whipped. One time that slimy looking William marched right in after I've given in to demands of iron TWICE and him beeing "polite", well polite my ass! He used my wussiness to build up military enough to come pick me. But mistakes are there for learning so nowadays I first beef up with a stack of offensive units to give my words at the negotiations table a little more convincing tone, then I trade and deal as much as possible to keep everyone happy (and generous). I guess a mixed/flexible strategy is a winner in the long term but it's fun to be hard-core. I really enjoyed declaring war allaround and keepin everyone in fashism/communism, at 2050 no one hade made more than 2 ss parts and all was stone age really.

I don't believe I've ever thought of the AI as my friend. Hated enemy....yes, but friend....nah.

:ar15:

Joan can be nice. I've played a 1 on 1 with her and she never gave reason to have war, untill I wanted 1 of her rubbers (dirty thoughts) and her tiny colonies closee to my FP. This wa modern age, I was the Bismark... :D
