Do you think I'm ready for Regent...

HI! ok i've had conquests for about 2 months and i'm doing really good(i think). on PTW i got up to warlord before i ordered conquests. now i think i'm ready for regent. in my first cheiftan game on conqusts, i got a domination win with the Byzantines. Now i'm playing a warlord game with the Celts(hoping to get either diplo or spaceship win). this is also the first time i'm playing on a large map. please check out my save below to see how i'm doing. look at how i'm doing and give any advice you can, if you think my level of play is good enough for regent or not. THanks in advance. So, do you think i'm ready for regent?

I'm not good enough at the game to crit you, but you should probably try regent out. It can't hurt.

btw, i just started playing my game again and decided to clear up a few things for anyone who checks out the save. the settler by hercelea under the horsemen, is going to bulid the city there. i'm changing the settler build in lungdunum to worker and the masullem of maussulos(sp) in entremont to gaillic swordsman.

one last thing i forgot to say. in the save where i'm playing(i have 2 saves now, 1 i'm playing, and i have one once you guys say something i didn't do and i can do it in the other save), next turn my Golden AGe ends. now my science is down and i'm getting less cash. guess i'll need a little help with this as well.

I tried it as well; it's not made for v1.22. What patch are you using greekguy? Right out of the box? It'll open if you have v1.00 or v1.15b, just not v1.22 due to the removal of Radio and other changes.

I looked at it in MapStat, and I have one comment: Why do you have entertainers in cities that don't need them (ie; Entremont). Put those citizens on tiles for more gold and shields and food! Otherwise, you have more culture, technology, and cities than the AI, so yes, I would move up.

sorry, i forgot to say that it is unpatched. so anything above 1.00 will not work. anyway thanks for the support ginger ale, i'll probably move up now.

Actually, you can load v1.00 saves in v1.15b, too.

Any chance you can provide a screenshot? This explains how. Then we don't have to load up the save to give comments.

I'm playing a Warlord game as the Celts right now as well (just got Conquests last week). I must say that the Gallic Swordsman is a great UU for Ancient Age expansion. The extra speed point over the regular Swordsman really makes the difference for a quick decisive invasion. If you can take a good deal of land early on, it's well worth the premature Golden Age.

greekguy: You can't link from your computer, because we aren't using your computer. You upload the files via this place and locate your files, and then view the uploads9 folder and copy the link of the pictures and paste them here. Attaching is fine, though, too.

You have a lot of room in the north and northeast of your main continent for more cities. More cities means more gold. Also, with your troops surrounding Breda - the forest will slow them down. Put them on tiles adjacent to where the Dutch worker(s) are so that they can move from their tile -> to the grassland -> attack Breda, in one turn, rather than moving onto forest, waiting a turn, allowing the Dutch to get reinforcements, and then attacking, since forest takes up 2 movement points, grassland only 1.

Sorry to say this, but i don't think you're ready.
1. You're building wonders. (conquer wonders)
2. you need more workers and specifically mines.
3. if you dedicate every city you have to military you can own the continent in the next 100-200 years maybe less.
4. Building nothing but Gallic Swordsmen (i saw an archer)
5. Courthouses are too close to capital=waste of gpt and turns

Also, build nothing but military, workers and settlers until you hit medieval or conquer your own continent. I hope my suggestions weren't too overbearing.

Because you tried to link a file to your computer. Since CFC's server couldn't find the link, it didn't part it. BTW, are you pasting those images in MS Paint? There's a lot of white space (tends to be very annoying to people). In MS Paint, resize the white box to something very small, then paste.

I think you should move up to Regent, what harm could it do (admittedly I have been playing on Warlord and MOved up to Regent and I got the shock of my life as a complete re-think in strategy was needed, don't say you weren't warned)

I'm on warlord now also. I'm going for a conquest victory, and I may make it before 2050! YAY! Republicans can conquer! You need a ruthless game, otherwise regent will come as a shock to you!

thanks. i think i get the hang of posting screenies now and will be able to do so in the future. ok, about the game i'll try to take all advice into consideration and up my city, road, and worker count. i think though after this game i will give regent a shot. it can't hurt to try anyway. well thanks to everyone who responded. you've been a great help.
