I personally have yet to use any mementos. I haven't really looked into them, but they would seem to smooth out the interesting edges of specific leaders and civs. To me, they seem like cheat codes. I expect I will try them someday, but for now, I am still exploring the game as-is.

Do you use mementos?

Yes they arent really that powerful and it is a feature of thr game. What would i be serving by not using them?
Yes, they're a clever way to help make every game different.

Well, I still take Imago Mundi in each my game despite of it being nerfed. For the rest... I usually take additional social policy slot as it's very flexible bonus. I change this setup only if I target specific strategy, i.e. if I start with some diplo leader and Greece, I get diplomatic legacy point instead of free policy slot to quickly grab city-states. So, in most cases they don't make that much difference.

I'm struck by how widely the usefulness of the bonuses varies betwen the different mementos - they're defintiely not all created equal. For my part, I primarily use Imago Mundi and the one that adds extra movement to ships. While I'm sure I derive a benefit from using them (in terms of scouting goodie huts or good settling locations etc), their attraction for me is that it reduces the time I have to spend micromanaging the exploration minigame, which has never been the part of the early game that I enjoy. Auto-explore on scouts will be great when it lands.

I don't. I'm still playing through the base leaders/civs. Maybe once I get through everything once, I might try them out to change things up. The only time is I once took the one to give commanders +1 movement, because to me that just felt like I wanted my commanders to have more movement.

Since I play peacefully, I always start with the basic +1 science and +1 culture attribute mementos to get a head start on working down the attribute trees. Then I switch them out entering the Exploration Age, based on how my game is going

So far I’ve been using the one that gives scouts better sight on their search ability and the one that gives an extra policy slot (so I can slot in the card that gives scouts +1 sight and movement without giving up any more crucial cards). I play on random leader/civ and those two seem the most universal for any combo I get.

I was pretty against them at first when revealed, but I have to admit they are nice for shaking up games. There are quite a few that could stand to get buffed but I love that several of them can completely shake up your game.

i think my favourite is Chalcedony Seal. Aksum probably being my favourite antiquity civ that has some really fun synergy!

The one that gives your scouts extra sight range when searching is a huge benefit.
