No need to build nukes.
Normally, I play deity, 7 civs, map 125x80 (hot and wet, 3 Billion years), raging hordes.
I usually try to build an SSC (if you don't know what an SSC is, search this forum!).
Why should I nuke my cities? I consider the AI cities as my cities! Sooner or later I will conquer them. A bunch of howitzers (howitzers rule!) and stealth fighters will do the same, but without pollution.
If you let the AI build nukes, you've made something wrong.

F.A.O. Sethos

Just a quick note to say I have been using the final parts of your stratregy from 29/3/05 and its working a treat. Captured most of the Wonders I didn't already have and severely hampered my main rival civ (Sioux). Also been using your guide to which governments to use etc. -Great advice, thanks very much. Looking forward now to becoming the only Nuclear power!!

All the best,

Panzerking.

When I use them it's to entertain myself - I like the graphics when the bomb blows up. One of many disappointments in Civ3 is that nuking some one is totally lame (from an eye candy point of view) and then the whole world turns against you.

Its much more efficient to bribe cities out from under other civs. Using howitsers and tanks works very well, massed crusaders if you must, all this will take more ground with less fuss than nukes.

I always use nukes in a game. Either for fun if i am winning or for revenge if i get pissed off at the computer civs.

Nukes all the way. It is a fast way of destroying the AI and dominating the world.

Nukes? Do I use nukes? There's nothing like taking the ole submarine out for a nice relaxing sunday cruise. Just drive out to the Gulf of Mexico and rain nukes down on all the important cities. Toss the thins around like party favors. Use 'em for making beachheads, for cracking well defended fortifications. Besides, there's nothing quite so romantic as eating fried chicken with the one you love by the fire of a smoldering radioactive waste that was a city.

I don't use nuke. I've enough pollution from my bad for nothing citizens.

However, I'd like to see someone make The Cold War campaign. But when it come to turn-base, when you have enough nukes you don't keep them. You nuke all your enemy's "nuke silo" cities in a turn. Then you can nuke the rest like there's no tomorrow without concern. No chance to retaliate. No Mutually Assured Destruction. No Cold War. Sad.

I don't use Nukes much anymore though I used to when I first set out. I find it very easy to experience global warming simply through high population and raging industrialisation never mind filling the air with Nukes. More often than not I end up rush-buying Mass Transits and Recycling Centres to try and stem the heavy tide of Pollution from my power democracy. Nowadays I'm too worried that heavy pollution will turn my beautiful and time-spent farmland into sludge!

 :nuke:

You should not let pollution get that bad. As a city starts having problems, build the appropriate structures right away, this will stop pollution in its tracks and let you build the structures without the "rush" to stop the skulls, and with the minimum disruption to your planned construction efforts.

I normaly will not use them but i have in the past and i will in up coming games.. they are part of the game... what gets me is the games where the house rule is no nukes... when i can i put an air field in my country with 3 or 4 nukes sitting there... if i happen to go to war with some one i will use one or two to let them know i that i have the upper hand and if they have SDI or what ever then i will walk in with a spy or two and boom... all tho it is fun some times to have a naval war... with battle ships and what not... what i dont like is cruse mis. like when you have a battle ship out on the open sea then like 15 mis come at it... have any one here gotten that from the AI... i do all the f***ing time... then they sail in with there Battle ships... i put one or two nukes not at their citys but up their battle ship's a$$.. that will teach them. lol :nuke:

PS... for you people that have to capture wonders... sorry but you suck. worry less about a good military half the game the AI is wanting peace... just build some units so all your citys are protected from sneak attack and then in your citys get some food and most scientist... then tax... then enertainers... bring up that science rate as high as you can and you will always have the better army... and all the wonders.

ok... im sorry... i read over that ps and it is harsh... it just that im use to having the best teck then any one else... there is a problem with the way i play and its that i dont have a millitary to back me up... if i lose a city i have to build the units to get it back. :nuke:
