WW79 I reckon is a great map for Nukes its a real diplomacy thing any one got this map aswell

I use nukes if I have to, and its saved me a game on at least two occasions (would have lost the spaceship race) otherwise its best to just run them over with conventional weapons. I have never fought a war with a nuclear capable AI.
Not only have I never used a nuke, I have never built one, never had a major war with an equivalent tech AI during the late modern era or even seen the AI use one.
So I voted no.
In civ2 when I had lots of wars with equivalent tech civs, I tried to stay away froom them. However if the AI nuked any of my cities (as they always did in a prolonged encounter) my rage would be too much to contain and their lands would go up in a haze of pink cattle skulls.
Actually towards the end of my civ 2 days (when I doubled production and food, increased money by 250%, multiplied by 10 the turns needed to get a new tech and then played on the best available map (GIGAWorld)) I used to build armies of spies to plant nukes in the enemy civs. So you could take out a whole civ in one turn!

I use them as people do in the real world, people have them, people do not use them, why coz it destroys that land and causes a national incident

Are you implying by this that you can pre-emptively nuke their remaining nukes, because I didn't think it worked that way. I was
under the impression that ICBMs survived the nuking of their host cities to simulate the missles 'passing in the air'. I don't know this for certain, as I have never used them or had them used on me.
Having said that, I'm probably going to have to in my current game. I'm the second largest power and I'm currently involved in a conventional war with the Babs, who are third. I will win, but the Persians, who now control pretty much a third of the world, will be well on their way to AC before I can turn my attention to them. I guess they're going to have to 'say hello to my leetle friends'.

I don't use them very often, but if the AI is really pushing their luck I do. I always build them just in case, I never know if the AI is planning on nuking me so it's nice to have them on hand. I don't like to be the one to strike first but sometimes they just need to be nuked,

The games no fun if you just nuke everything anyway so I keep the number of my cities, divided by 3 = the amount of nukes I keep so at the moment I have 17
